depends. probably would not becuase that kinda ploy has been used to invade homes and women have paid the prices for it, that I personally knew of. that said, it's a rare scenario, most people probably would be ok, I have answered the door many times. I'd gather information and call police or offer help.

2nd, IF I actually answered the door... I am in the USA mind you, there are houses everywhere and there are stores and libraries and grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations... all over the place... it seems very fishy for them to just pick one random house and say "let me in".
3rd, I'd be more apt to help a woman or a child, if some 30 year old dude is asking to come in my house... no.
I am not naive and this is a good way for a robber, home invader, rapist... etc. to act like a needy person wanting some Good Samaritan to lower their guard.

I’d be very nervous. Our garage stays warm so i’d bring out a chair and a blanket and let them sit underneath it. I’d sit at a distance across from them and talk with them for a while. The only way i’m letting them in is if we pat them down for weapons. And my grandpa would have to come over with his machete and sit with us

when it comes to basic human nees, i'd provide them. be it water, some food or shelter. however i would not let them sleep in my place. the most i'd let them do "in my house" is use the toilet. for shelter, i'd maybe go as far as drive them to a place they can stay.
I really want to, but I'm also scared at the same time as I've heard some bad things happening to people who let some strangers inside the house. I guess I'd let them in and offer them some warm food/snacks and hot tea/coffee if I'm not alone at home. If I am, I'll just make some hot tea and coffee and give it to them at doorstep. Luckily, it's always warm/hot where I live, lol.

Absolutely not. Call the police and let the government handle it. They will provide shelter and food through YOUR taxes. You’d be a complete fool to shelter someone you don’t know. They could be a murderer, rapist, pedophile, drug addict/seller, conman. There is only risk and no reward except I guess feeling good? Why do you think I never help homeless? Because they WANT to be homeless! They have all the opportunities to take advantage of 1000’s of progress and assistance but would rather beg for cash for alcohol and drugs because those programs won’t help you if you are abusing a substance.
Probably, but context is key here. You can usually tell if a situation like that feels off, if they really need help or if it rather seems to be leading up to some kind of assault or robbery. I'd think about how cold it actually was, what the odds are that they are really out here at my home without any other means of egress. In the end yes, unless they were obviously shady I'd allow them in immidiately, but I'd still watch them closely.

I would at least temporarily to assess their situation. But I'm also 6'5" 250 lbs lbs. I realize there's a difference between me and a 5' nothing 100lb woman.

Age and gender take factor for me, granted I would let them in but I would be very cautious, guys over 18 I'd be cautious if they would try and do me harm, anyone underage I would let them in but I would notify the authorities as soon as possible. I have cameras in every room of my house except my bathrooms, so if a female was asking for help and I help them, I am ok knowing I'd have proof I did nothing wrong if they tried claiming otherwise.
As a young woman, unfortunately no as the situation may not be as genuine as it seems. I would probably call for some help for them instead.
