Do you think that because a person is of legal age they have the right to do whatever they want?

Im focusing on just one year of difference between under age and legal age. Like Underage 18 and Legal age 19.

I mean the person is the same person just he is 1 yr older, but the person could still behave the same way as when he was 18.

I dont see a big difference 1 yr. when it comes to the person attitude, behavior, maturity, etc One yr is just a number and that does not make a person do whatever they want just because of a number.

I mean for certain aspects of life of course being of legal age allow you to apply for things or do things that underage could not do, aspects like legal life stuff such as marriage (even if the person is still immature¡ for that) or other hundreds of things legally related that require the person to be an adult or applying for bank accounts,, smoke,, etc etc

But if the person continues to act like a kid or stupid, what does it matter if the person is 18, 19, 25 or 30? The behavior still is wrong if they continue to behave the wrong way.

One example (there can be many different exampels on different fields): A 19yrd old boy sleeping with his 18yrd old girlfriend at a family trip where other family members (including his sister and his dad) are part of this family trip. The couple are just boyfriend/girlfriend, nothing formal or serious between them, they are not living together either, they both live with their respective parents and they set a day to see each other again for dating. But they wanted to share the same room and sleep in the same bed like a serious couple, (they just been dating 1 yr anyway) while other cousins who were of the same age, never brought their respective boyfriend/girlfriend cause it was a family trip to spend time with cousins, family and other relatives and their parents also did not allow them to do, cause it was a family trip.

I mean even if the boy is 19 and the girlfriend 18 and both of legal age does not make it correct, cause still they are both immature in their attitude, they just did it for the sake of "we are a couple so we are sleeping together".

18 Is the age where SOME of the restrictions are lifted to allow people to accept adult rights. That age affords SOME of the legal rights to people as they progress from childhood into adults.

The REAL problem is that some parents do a piss-poor job in teaching their kids responsibility as they reach adult age.

At 21, ALL "legal" requirements to treat a person as a child are removed. What many parents forget to teach their kids (as they're growing up) is that not only can you do whatever you feel like, you ALSO get to suffer the CONSEQUENCES for those actions! Some of those decisions have life-long consequences.

The one thing I've always told my kids and grandchildren is that you may hate what your parents tell you. But consider this... of all the people in the world, who loves them the most? And do you think your parents are purposely telling you something to make your life miserable? Do you honestly believe that's what your parents want for you?

Do I think people at age 18 or 19 have the right to do what they want? Yeah, but they also have the right to receive the consequences and financial price for their behavior! The idea of thinking before you act bears heavy consideration here.

Bringing a SO on a family trip and expecting to sleep together is a low character move. Doing it in from of extended family is just broadcasting their morality, ethics, and character to the entire family.

Nineteen years old is NOT a child. He should be making better, smarter decisions. He is bringing shame on his parents and should be embarrassed.

That's precisely why the legal age is at least 18 in most of the world.

Personally I was mature enough to make my choices at 16 but had to wait until 18 to do it, maturity is not switch but it's a leap everyone has to take.

You raise your kids as best you can but eventually you have to see what they chose to do with what you gave them.

nobody ever really has the right to do "whatever" they want... and this is regardless of age

for almost everything you do in this life, there are legal boundaries and also consequences... and for the most part we try to abide, by them

If you have a set of rules in your house and that person is of legal age they still need to follow the rules of the house. If they're still in high school they should still follow the rules of the house or they can move out.

You have to make a distinction between adults and children from a legal sense. Period. Any age you pick could have the same argument made.

I did not grow up to a man till age 30. Today for last 45 years or more dad not been home to teach a boy about to loving a woman, so ladies today you want me a guy it best you teach him about love

The legal age should be raised up to at least 21 years old.
