Do you think most people are quite selfish?

I keep seeing these TikTok’s and charity advertisements online where there’s a really sick pet or child or elderly person who’s in critical condition/dying. People may like the videos from their desperate loved ones, but barely anyone donates to help them, not even a small amount of money.

But they’ll readily go out and buy themselves some new clothes or expensive makeup or something. Do you think most people are selfish in this way? What’s wrong with the world where we can see someone suffering and would rather spend the money on material things?

www narcissism (world wide web narcissism). Being mentally isolated and in your own bubble, even though you're around other humans physically, has consequences.

It's hard to think about anyone or anything else when you're stuck worried about how many likes or followers you get.

I think most humans are self centered because we view things only from our own eyes. So we are the most important. Things that happen in our lives are the most important because it's our life. We don't view it as just LIFE it's always MY LIFE. This is why it's very important to put ourselves in other people's shoes. So we can stop focussing on ourselves all the time.

Unfortunately a lot of charities borderline scams where very little of the money ends up on the stated target.

If I'm going to donate it's going to be after careful consideration, not because of some ad or social media personality.

Yes, a lot of people are unfortunately. It’s because they don’t care enough about other people or situations that don’t directly affect them
