My friend is a trans woman, she was born with a penis and testicles though has since been making moves to transition. She has grown her hair out, has has breast implants, everything except the bottom surgery - and she definitely passes for female. You wouldn't know the backstory just looking at her on the street.

Well she went to the pool around a week or two ago (she always does, majorly into swimming) and went into the showers as per usual.

The showers at our local pool are segregated male and female though are communal within that - it's just 2 walls with showerheads coming out of it, no partition or anything. It honestly reminds me of a prison lol

Well she went in there (the female side), got undressed and began showering. After that some woman walked in and yelled a few obscenities (I'm sure you can imagine) before kicking her between the legs.

My friend went to the emergency room the next day after much urging from me and some other friends, and she suffered a ruptured testicle. They said it probably could have been operated on had she went in immediately after, but the delay meant it was too far gone and so it was removed.

She has since been considering pressing charges on the woman who assaulted her, but has some concerns - namely, what if the woman tries to claim she felt threatened, or even outright lie and says my friend tried to assault her and that it was just self defence? Obviously there are no cameras in the showers and as far as I'm aware there are no eyewitnesses, so it would just be one testimony against the other.

Should she go through with trying to prosecute, do you think? Or is it too risky in your opinions?

I understand this is probably not the place for something like this but I spend a lot of time on here and with the amount of political questions and stuff like that I figured asking a more serious question like this would be okay.

The cop's first question will be - why was your friend that close that this woman was able to kick him/her?

The cop's second question will be - why did your friend not go to the hospital immediately, as a ruptured testicle would've hurt like hell.

The cop's third question will be - well it's not a question it's a statement - hands behind your back because you've been accused of sexually assaulting a woman at X facility.

You want to know why? Most people when they encounter an irate individual walk away. Or they keep their distance. Your friend has NOT ONE logical or reasonable explanation for why he was that close to the woman.

In fact, the police are very likely going to believe any claim that this woman makes your friend was sexually assaulting or trying to sexually assault her. Because quite literally that is the ONLY THING that makes sense.

While your friend has a penis he should stay in the male lockers. Far too many events happen where a transgender sexually assaults women. Female-only prisons as an example has a serious problem with he-shes doing just that - males claiming they're "women" and raping actual women when moved to a female-only prison before they have had surgery to remove their dicks.

1 - I explained the nature of the showers in my post. There are no partitions between shower heads - once you go into the shower block, you are relatively close to everyone else who may be there.

2 - Embarrassment, pride, there are many reasons injured people refuse to seek medical attention. The fact she's a woman who has male anatomy would just add to the confusion at the hospital and that likely played into it.

3 - Not one logical explanation? She was in the middle of having a shower, to walk away would be to either walk into the changing room without finishing or to walk back to the pool fully nude. To get changed would still take time even if she had immediately chosen it upon someone entering (and why would she at that point suspect anything?)

You sound like you are justifying this woman rupturing my friends testicle? I hope I am misinterpreting that.

1 - I've been in plenty of gym showers. More than enough room between people even without partitions because the gyms are literally designed with partitions in mind. Never mind the facets can't be any closer than X distance due to pressure. Dumbass. Cops would die laughing at you.

2. I just said that a ruptured testicle would hurt like hell. Never mind you would develop a fever & signs of very quickly. A liar would say otherwise. Thank you for proving you & your friend are liars.

3. I just explained that your description of the showers doesn't work & that is exactly why your friend never reported it because HE knew HE was in the wrong. Even if HE did not go to the police HE should have reported the assault to gym staff.

I don't think she should be using the women's shower, but regardless, the woman's reaction was way out of line. What if it was a man who simply got confused and used the wrong shower? That's no justification for violence.
I think she should press charges.

Regardles if the woman acted in self defense or she was just angry (rightfully so, but most women would have probably just stormed out and made a fb rant about it.) that your friend was there, her actions were 100% justified

Unless that changing room had cameras (unlikely) or he has witnesses (unlikely) then it's a losing case.
