Why aren't abusve men charged with hate crime offenses?

Feminists have no problem with calling men misogynistic, and I'm sure that SOME of the guys who assault women do so because of a generalized hatred towards women, so. . . since women are members of a group whose rights are especially protected, why are abusive men charged with hate crime violations?

I don't know if that's true but if so I don't care because the concept of hate crimes are stupid. We look for motivation for crimes for a reason and to make the assumption that someone did it out of supposed hatred of them being a woman or minority and having them punished extra for it isn't justice.

It's quite literally putting the famous quote "all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others" into practice.
