No. Musicians come in all shapes, colours, sizes, and backgrounds.
Eminem is a famous white rapper, and one who did a lot for the genre in its early years. There's also the OG black rappers and the origin of rap within the Black community. It's important to recognize the origins, but anyone can rap - it's just not everyone is good at it, lol.
Likewise, anyone can make rock or country. It's a genre. But recognizing its origins, history, and aspects help make your music authentic.

Hell, even classical and traditional music from cultures is explored by people not of that culture. There's Japanese fue (flute) performers from outside of Japan who have practiced and dedicated so much of their lives that they are accepted by the schools of their instrument to such a degree they are even given the school's name - something extremely rare even for those of Japanese origin.
Sharing music is about cultural sharing and understanding. Not about appropriation. Can appropriation happen? Yes. But it isn't just because some white guy raps or some black girl rocks.

I honestly find the concept of cultural appropriation stupid. Does it happen of course the United States was built on culturally appropriating other cultures how to make fun of them but because we like them and we want to adopt X part of say Japanese culture into our everyday lives. Anime is a huge business in the United States but everyone from white to black native Asian latino loves anime. A lot of blacks Asians and Latinos like hot dogs which comes from Germany. Beethoven Brahms Mozart Johann Sebastian Bach Tchaikovsky and Chopin are left in Japan Beethoven Brahms Mozart Johann Sebastian Bach are from Germany Tchaikovsky is Russian and Chopin is Polish.
I get for example to keep with the Asian theme because why not, wearing buck teeth and slating your eyes to make fun of a culture is a bad thing, but embracing part of another culture because you enjoy that aspect of a culture is more respect for the culture rather then a insult to the culture.
You like rock music so you are respecting and enjoying the culture of rock music there is nothing wrong with that.

Music is universal. Anyone who tries to gatekeep it is a asshole. There is a reason why Dre was one the few none racists/assholes who saw Eminem's talent no matter his color and look at him now. If not the most successful rapper to this date. Yet it was a "Black people" thing.

Rather than doing it under that other's guys opinion, I will also say Marx is a primary reason Uk have Universal Health Care along with many of out progressive views in England that are more left. Music is universal in my opinion. I pride myself on listening to a wide array of music from country, to rock, to grunge, to rap and even pop. The United States is a âmelting potâ of tons of people and cultures. If a white kid who only listened to rock growing up goes off to college and gets to experience rap music and he decides he loves it and would like to be a rapper then good for him. If a black person who grew up on hip hop decides he loves country music then go for it. Everyone has something different they can bring to the table so I donât see a reason why there should be gatekeeping in music.
Thank you for sharin, I think listening to music is not considered cultural appropriation especially in this modern age where we are a bit more open minded but making certain kinds of music is usually considered to be cultural appropriation especially if you are making music that is, made by people with a culture that is different from your own culture/race.

I think it would be a very interesting act but no itâs not cultural appropriation. That African person had to learn Japanese and whatever intricacies of JPOP in order to successfully make that type of music itâs not just some cheap cash grab. They wouldâve taken care to do justice for that cultures music and I donât see a problem with it.

Rock music literally has origins in "black music". Buddy Holly was rockin' and a' rollin' before Elvis opened up the genre to white musicians. As for the inverse, Eminem proved in the 90s that white rappers can go bar for bar against the best black Emcees of the day. Music knows no race, it just has historical genre roots that coincide with certain ethnographics.
I admit white rappers don't seem to play well but it really annoys me that people criticize/put down whole genres of music and by implication those who listen to that genre. Country and Western is one that gets a lot of put downs.
It is even more annoying if an artist is criticized for having the wrong skin color to play a particular genre. I don't think any artist should be criticized by anyone who hasn't got up and played to an audience full stop.

Marx has never mentioned such a thing so that's bullshit. I would suggest to go read his actual works there very interesting if not super smart. Whether you agree or disagree after is another thing. But he is not racist or mention cultural appropriation at all. That has nothing to do with him.
A simple fact for him is he was german (Some people actually think he was Russian because they don't do any research), then he moved to france then england. He lived illegally in each country because he didn't agree with the systems in place. These were forced labour for very little wage, amongst his very vocal focused onto factory workers. He didn't agree people at the bottom been treated how they were. This was back when kids would stuck up chimneys so it's very obvious fact that things back then were pretty bad.
So he tried to write and focus on ways to solve that. And that's all he did. He lived poor all his life with his wife who agreed with him even though she actually used to come from a wealthier background before she sided with him and gave it up for him.
It's quite a thing. His thoughts that he wrote down to fix such systems don't mention race as far as he was concerned it should be the same for everyone no matter their color or whatever.

As a metalhead, I can tell you in metal and rock everyone is accepted. And if you think about it, early forms of rock was influenced by black musicians,. especially those that played the blues

I think you should read some music history about rock music.
I did, and I read that rock has been white washed because white people took the genre, experimented with it, evolved and now it's seen by many as a white people's music genre. also because rock music, modern rock music at that is mostly played by white people if you look at the rock industry from the late 80-early 2000s you'll see that there are hardly any black lead singers but tons of bands with white people. Lenny Kravitz received backlash for being a Rockstar even, he says the rock industry made him feel not white enough and not black enough, he didn't feel welcome and that was because of his race.
