I assume you talk about modern definition, which made quite a career in politics recently. The answer is - because it leads to some really amuzing situations (or sad - depends on how you see it), like golden skirts in Scandinavia.

We are not equal. Nobody is equal. We are all individuals with individual needs.

There she goes again. When someone makes a proper point she does this act. Of course he does. Maybe the better question is what privilege or opportunity do men have that women do not? Give us them? If they are qualified they can do it. Maybe we should give them the opportunity to die in the front lines in war mandatorily like I’m ward past? Perhaps if we give them the exact treatment they want we can just let them struggle in areas they are not physically or otherwise capable of? It goes both ways. There are things women are better at that they naturally choose to do. But you don’t hear men becoming toxic like women have become.
Now it’s not all woman. In fact most women think Subarugirl is the outlier. But she’s just so toxically loud. Some of this gets old and obnoxious. It has become their religion and identity.

People sooner or later see they are fairly ignorant except for those in their same narrow minded sect of their religion.
gender equality is an ideology that spits in the face of real world facts and gender differences. no man is in the way of "same rights for all genders" but understandably most are for forced equality by means of discrimination of men.
Most men are not against equal rights, but i feel men are more and more against toxic feminism that is going crazy in todays world.

As I said on your other question I support equality not equity. Meaning equal opportunity not equal outcome.
Their upbringing, concept of male superiority, prevailing ideas in conservative societies, unknown fear of dominant or equal partnership between male and female, religious teachings are the main factors which oppose gender equality.

I am for equal rights , not for more rights. Women in US want more rights than men. Same pay with less experience.
Mostly because what is being advocated is not equality - it is superiority for women.
But that’s the exact opposite of gender equality..
Then why do people who advocate for overtly sexist policies call it gender equality? Its not rocket science... this isn't a complex issue. You're asking men this question when you should be asking women "Hey, demanding positions of authority within a company, "because its your turn" isn't equality." (women won't do this of course because they'll get cancelled).
