I can't say I "hate" America. It's more like the frustration of knowing what we can be and what we became famous for in the first place. A lot of it involved world-leading changes. But we've seemed to stubbornly refuse change and I'm watching us decline because of it.
For instance, we could have been world leaders in solar cell production, but lost out to China in a lucrative market because we insist climate change is a myth. You don't have to believe in the premise to hop onto that gravy train.
Or we used to have some of the bigger workers' rights revolutions, but now insist that Amazon workers pissing in bottles is what "makes America great".
Our foreign policy used to be "We're not going to butt in." Followed by "OK, we're going to butt in, but your Treaty of Versailles is asking for another world war" and then once the dust clears, not only rebuilding our allies, but our prior adversaries as well.
We also could have had CERN right here in our back yard. Or rather, the Superconducting Supercollider project in Texas. Axed in '93. Every major discovery in particle physics this century has gone to central Europe, and that could have been us.
We always had a distinct advantage of being a brain suck for world-leading talent, while also having the raw industrial prowess to put our ideas into action. Of course in the hands of neocons and neolibs, we got that "giant sucking sound" as our industrial prowess moved overseas, and a brain drain as talent wanted to follow industry. I live in the Rust Belt and worked in automotive manufacturing for a while. You can still hear the sucking sound here.
But yeah, it's mostly that we used to take the lead in a lot of things. Showed the world "different can be better". But then started sitting, like a banker who made millions from nothing, followed by a son who merely inherited it and decides to just sit on it. Or worse yet, we'll stubbornly refuse new things that could be to our benefit. Being a great country is not a destination, it is an active process.
So it isn't hate in my case, it's more like watching a loved one go from bold and ambitious to lying in bed in atrophy, staring at a wall of college trophies they have since stopped receiving.

Better question is why do people love a landmass that has no meaning other than we can walk on it? Or why do people love a flag that has no meaning other than it waves. People shouldn't always give meanings to things and form a pride around them.
Oh no I just burnt a flag, the world just ended lol.
Humans have to put importance in some stuff because we aren't capable of not doing so but come on there is better things than just a thing that waves.
Also ya know what gets people to follow into a war those exact meanings leading to countless pointless deaths. So that man bought into propaganda and pride that if it did not exist would of saved him a lot of trouble. But sighs cannot change people's tribalism even plants and animals are territory.
Happy 4th of July. Most Americans love America. Greatest country in the world

Here's the problem - exactly what do you mean by "America" in this example?
Our mostly ignorant, or corrupt leaders who form our country's policies?
The mostly ignorant, 7th grade reading level general population that can't correctly answer "what are the 3 branches of American government"?
The multinational business that care only for profits and not employees?
What are we talking about?
Yes, I love the fact that we have more freedoms in this country than many others. I love a lot of things about the USA. But I also hate to see that 1/3 of the population lives in or just above poverty, and we're one of the wealthiest countries in the world.
There's a lot to love and a lot to loathe about the USA. Personally, I think the "love it or leave it" folks are the least patriotic and among the dumbest there are. It's BECAUSE I love it that I want to change it for the better. It's called blissful ignorance.
Most people don't know that the world is ugly all around and in certain corners is horrifying.
In the grand scheme of things america remains one of the best places to live.
The fact is people make a huge deal out of everything these days.
Some talk about slavery like there are still people in balls and chains even though the last person who truly was a slave has long been dead.
Gun violence when one person in a population of 300 million shoots a group of people.
There are countries of 5 million where hundreds shoot thousands everyday.
People think it can be perfect but america is too big to be perfect when you have this much people living on such a vast land things will happen here and there but it's still safer than so many other places. We Americans have become self absorbed and spoiled rotten. And it's getting quite annoying. The "hate" that you speak of stems from the lack of accountability for one's actions. And because of this, groups have taken control of the country, oppressing individuals. The individual, not groups, is THE most important part of being an American. We are all different for a million reasons. But we're all the same because we value the same liberty and freedom afforded to us. Groups have stripped away individual thought from so many people. Until we can restore the priority of individualism in our great nation, we're going to continue struggling as a country. And for no reason other than political hacks collectivizing power and stripping our rights.
It's not the country we hate so much as the mentally disturbed fool running the place into the ground, right!!
Because it's the hip and trendy thing to do, yet they don't move to somewhere else, so it can't be that bad.
A lot of these people are victims of the indoctrination of our schools. They are taught that America is racist and was founded on racism. No, burning the flag is not treason, it's political speech. It's freedom of conscience, which includes the freedom to protest, that makes this country great. The flag is just a symbol of the nation and of the Constitution including the Bill of Rights and particularly the First Amendment
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
That's what makes this country great, and makes our form of government worth protecting. Today's protesters are tomorrow's heroes. Can't abide protest that makes you uncomfortable? That's anti-American.cooperate media and fear is used to control the masses because if the lower and middle classes ever banded together they could over throw the upper class.
Imagine being so coddled and so sheltered that you can't percieve a reality where your blessings are anything but oppression.
As someone from Brazil, I find amazing how there are Americans that hate their own countruly, overlook their history and elect politicians dedicated to destroying the US from within. What's called the US should've been split in 50 different countries already.
Only democrats hate America. The dumb lazy ones hate that they can't have a free living forever and the wealthy democrats exploit that to get votes/power.
Holy crap; punctuation, please.
I tried reading this, and got a headache. It was all two massive, meandering sentences, and hard to follow.Your country was founded by Christian values, the Christian civilization is superior so now a bunch of weak undisciplined bastardos simply want to destroy that civilization of order, beauty, strenght, discipline to impose their mediocrity, their weakness they wickedness etc
Probably because our education system sucks. The run on sentences have become the norm. Just throwing it out there.
It's how the wests elite class functions. To divide and conquer the people. Take as old as time.
Kind regards,I love America -- I think more of the world should be American, especially those snaggle tooths on that rainy little island in Northern Europe.
Men can't get women
Woman are now Whoes
Inflation
School sucks
Mass immigration legal and illegal
America spend money not on it's citizens but on gender studies in India WTF or investing in Ukraine.
Rewards bad behavior of women with food stamps section 8.
Bail out for operations like banks airlines
The only benefit America has is it's dollar.
And that's slowly dropping.
Wars for no reasonBrainwashed in college, IF you ever go overseas you will love the USA more. Trust me.
Oh my. Something got overturned. And I must move my balls somewhere where fucking has a fucking consequence. REEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
In regards to your update, I have actually seen a British WWII vet say something very similar about England. I am sad to say I agree with them.
The US, at least, has lost so much of it's original purpose that I'm not sure if it is even worth fighting for anymore because we are ruled by tyrants. Given that we have been seeing such a massive drop in recruits within the past several years, despite our economy being in the gutter, is a really good sign that I think a lot of Americans agree.
