California Approves Bill to Punish Doctors Who Spread False Information

Trying to strike a balance between free speech and public health, California’s Legislature on Monday approved a bill that would allow regulators to punish doctors for spreading false information about COVID-19 vaccinations and treatments.

The legislation, if signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, would make the state the first to try to legislate a remedy to a problem that the American Medical Association, among other medical groups and experts, says has worsened the impact of the pandemic, resulting in thousands of unnecessary hospitalizations and deaths.

The law would designate spreading false or misleading medical information to patients as “unprofessional conduct,” subject to punishment by the agency that licenses doctors, the Medical Board of California. That could include suspending or revoking a doctor’s license to practice medicine in the state.

Basically if you question the science or share a differing opinion its punishable by law, I guess no more second or third opinions before treatments allowed anymore?

Medicine is a science, and science is based on asking questions, observing outcomes, and challenging conventional thought with new ideas.

Official COVID policy has changed radically over the last 2.5 years - it's been anything but consistent. Note that vaccine hysteria that was in the news a year ago has been completely forgotten now? Masks are gone. Plexiglass shields are gone. But COVID itself is NOT gone, but no one cares.

Why? What changed? I'll tell you: the Omicron variant of COVID wasn't even a little slowed down by the vaccine, which made the vaccine pointless. The house of cards collapsed, and the government folded under tremendous pressure from the people.

But Newsome very much relished the CONTROL that COVID gave him over ordinary people, and the ability to dictate the narrative and have the state enforce his version over all others - you know, just like Russia and China.

The people who legislate against dissent are always the people who know their positions are wrong, but want the state to enforce them anyway. When your position is legal, moral, and logical, there is no need to be concerned with dissenters.

@goaded You don't need evidence to QUESTION things - especially policies - but in order to enact long-term policies, then, yes, you need evidence. More specifically, you need PEER-REVIEWED evidence. That's how scientific consensus is achieved - when other people in other places can reproduce the results you laid out.

The problem with things like COVID is that policies were being created with NO evidence, but with SEVERE effects to the people and to the economy, and those policies were being mandated by politicians who would pick and choose which evidence to follow, and most importantly, politicians WHO DID NOT EVEN FOLLOW THEIR OWN RULES.

And, then, when sufficient evidence showed that their rules were completely ineffective, those politicians shrugged their shoulders, said "fine, forget it", and cared nothing about all of the harm their policies had caused. How many people are deeply in debt. How many businesses were forced to close or went bankrupt. How many kids effectively missed 2 years of schooling, and all of the social activities (sports, plays, talent shows, band performances, proms, etc.), and how many are suffering mental health problems from 2 years of being isolated. How many people lost their jobs - people who were acknowledged as "heros" because they'd worked so hard for so long to help others - because of a ridiculous policy that was abandoned 6 or 9 months later.

Any claims of "following the science" are proven false when contradictory evidence was ignored until so much of it piled up that all but their most rabid followers were ignoring the rules, and when those very politicians were getting COVID despite their vaxxes and masks.

There have been various variants on the original virus, Delta was more contagious and more deadly, Omicron was even more contagious, but less deadly, vaccines became available. All those things prompted different responses (none of which were to control the masses).

Lots of treatments were properly tested, including ivermectin, and the ones that worked (which did not include ivermectin) were kept. There were also massive natural and lab experiments performed with masks, and they were shown to be effective. Ditto with the vaccines.

Any doctor currently recommending ivermectin is guilty of malpractice.

Ivermectin has been officially approved as a treatment. And that's because doctors in the field recognized that it worked, and treated patients with it. But that treatment was made political because Big Pharma wanted NO competition that might interfere with the billions they were receiving for their "vaccines" - which do nothing to protect against Omicron, but as soon as they had milked the government for all they could get, and the ineffectiveness was exposed, suddenly, overnight, the government no longer cared about vaccines, or lockdowns, or any of it.

Can you really not see how you got played? Ivermectin got approved because it always worked, but Pfizer and J&J got their tens of billions of our money, and so they no longer care if a competing solution exists.

Then it's the doctors and medical "experts" who give credibility to the danger of covid and recommend the covid jabs without giving full disclosure who are guilty of spreading false or misleading medical information to patients. They should not only be disbarred. They should be tried as accessories to crimes against humanity. Ignorance or "just obeying orders" are no defense.

As for this bat shit crazy law. It's intent is not to protect the public. It is two fold:
1. Make some people shit tons of money.

This law is about spreading misinfromation such as using meds that are yet unproven to work

It has the same issue that all laws attempting to stop the spread of false information do, according to who is it false information? Given that politicians and the media on both sides of the isle are pretty much always dead set on pushing some narrative to support some agenda, they are not a reliable sources.
