Is it wrong that I don’t think it is bad to avoid black people out of reasoning from crime statistics?

Okay one uncomfortable fact and hard truth to swallow is that across the board black people commit over half of all crime in America. Now because of this I won’t ever walk down a black neighborhood at night and when walking alone at night I will make sure to walk past a black man. Now I don’t hate all black people and I have grown to like some black people but for my own personal safety I will avoid black people at night. I also won’t ever be mean to black people either and I don’t feel like going online and saying bad shit about them 24/7.

As humans we make choices based on facts and instinct. Avoiding dangerous situations based on facts is an instinctive survival mechanism. Those instincts served our ancestors well. They developed as part of the evolutionary process that resulted in the survival of the human species. Human's who ignored those instincts didn't pass on their genes. Choosing to ignore them now would not be wise, even when we are called "racist" for doing so.

If you want to avoid a bad neighborhood, like the poor, inner-city (or "the hood"), you wouldn't be wrong to do so... Many honest people who are stuck living in there would love nothing more than to move out of there themselves.

But to avoid black people in general is kind of silly, because if you use your commonsense, you can usually tell apart law-abiding citizens from the thugs.

If you see someone without a shirt, they're pulling up their pants, they have one hand in their pocket and wandering/looking around aimlessly, you have a right to be a little wary of them. If you see someone wearing casual clothes that fit, they're walking with a clear objective, and they're ignoring you... chances are, they're just normal people. It's not THAT hard to pick up on these things.

It only makes sense to stay out of bad neighborhoods no matter who lives in them. It might be more dangerous to walk through a black neighborhood just because a white guy would really stand out and everyone would know he did not belong there. To assume criminal behavior based on skin color is wrong.
