Ever since the covid pandemic began, life just feels like it's doing whatever it can to suck the joy out of me. A disease that has killed millions is still rampant, my country's democracy is at stake thanks to our former president and his cult-like followers, putin's turned into an even bigger monster than he was before, women are having their rights stripped from them, and we've lost multiple legends (including my grandpa last year). If things get any worse, or if nothing uplifting happens soon, I might snap. When will things start getting relatively good again?
Things will never be good in the same way that they were. There is only the chance that things will be good in a different way. The best course of action for that is to stay involved in local matters. Whatever else anyone talks about, all national politics is really about is do we spend our tax money on ourselves ( D ) or on the rich ( R )? And that doesn't affect much, really. State and county political decisions are the ones that govern 99% of everyone's life, and yet few pay much attention to them. But if you do focus on things at that level suddenly everything becomes a lot more doable.
Of course there is always my personal fallback: no matter how shitty life gets, in a mere 80 years all the assholes making it that way will be dead.

As soon as you turn off the internet/tv and change your life for the better. Also, if you listen to music... turn it off, most of it is garbage. fill your heart and mind with good and joyful stuff, thanks and gratitude.
Stop taking on the stresses of the world, you can't handle them. Find ways to give back and be of value. Check out Jesus of Nazareth teachings, or others of wisdom.
Your perspective doesn't align with mine, but so what.
I feel a bit aimless, not hopeless. I'm trying to figure out where to put my remaining time, what time I have.
The way I see it is there are always negative things going on around us.
It's sad and discouraging at times, but if you can try to find the good things that are happening also, it helps balance it out so it's not so hopeless feeling.

Yes, i say this all the time. Between Covid and Biden it just seems that the whole world sucks. I don't watch sports anymore because i won't watch people kneel during the national anthem and I gave up on baseball when they pulled the all star game out of Atlanta. I cannot really watch a movie without thinking bout what liberal morons all the actors are and the same thing with music. I have a summer house on and island and the locals are trying to turn it into another Marthas Vineyard. I don't even like to go there anymore. You have to wear a mask in the grocery store and if you don;t wear a mask walking outside some busybody will take your picture and post it on facebook. It used to be a nice laid back place before all these rich people strated buying homes there. Everything just sucks.
I’ve felt fairly hopeless for about 7 years, but it’s definitely ramped up in the last three years for me
I hardly noticed? Lots of whining the last two years I did notice that.
The univuniverse is a mirror & you get back what you project.
Stop watching CNN and NBC. You’ve been indoctrinated.
Life for me felt hopeless the past 5 years but the pandemic only played a role the past two.
Sounds like you are a loser.
I think so. I do.
