I'm conflicted. It's nice that they sent him a card but they shouldn't be hating on the girl who turned him down. We all have to learn to face rejection because it's going to happen a lot.
I think sentiment is well intentioned but never really has results. He'll feel nice until he gets home and all those words feel even emptier, exposing how truly alone he is.
If this really happened maybe we are not as screwed as precoously thought.

She did it publicly, so it is appropriate that the response was also public.
That said, he should not have made his request to her publicly, but impaired social skills and judgment are some of the symptoms of Autism. This whole thing was unfortunate. Somebody at the school should have helped this kid to make his request to her privately.
If it didn't happen in front of a lot of People, Other Students would have ignored him especially Female Students.
