Judge: House GOP Can Question Ex-Prosecutor About Trump Case

A federal judge will let House Republicans question a former Manhattan prosecutor about the criminal case against ex-President Donald Trump, ruling Wednesday that there is no legal basis to block the Judiciary Committee’s subpoena.

U. S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil rejected Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s request for a temporary restraining order, finding that committee chair Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, had a valid legislative purpose in issuing the subpoena to former prosecutor Mark Pomerantz.

Vyskocil, a Trump appointee, ruled two hours after a hearing in which she peppered lawyers on both sides with questions, asking them to parse thorny issues of sovereignty, separation of powers and Congressional oversight arising from the historic indictment.

Acknowledging the “political dogfights” surrounding the case, the judge said in her ruling that she “does not endorse either side’s agenda.” She encouraged both sides to speak and “reach a mutually agreeable compromise” on how Pomerantz’s deposition will proceed. I think it's likely that they are trying to make a compromise. Personally though I'm conservative, I wish Trump would get out of politics.

There are too many forever and never trump people out there that polarizes politics that are already ridiculously divided more so. Dan Crenshaw gets less shit on the right, and his policies are far more to the right, DeSantis is similar to Trump in policies, but is far more effective in getting results.

I don't get why it has to be trump, like just make a deal for him to get out of politics and drop everything. Or pursue all the charges that can be brought up on him seriously, but do the same to the Democrats, or not at all. Regardless of the outcome, this will make more forever trumpers, and doesn't change the perception of never trumpers.

Him going up for charges, even if they weren't so much of a stretch, makes him a martyr in the eyes of forever trump supporters. It's like how when Tate was arrested his supporters were screaming about it being a set-up before the charges were announced.
