It usually ends with them thinking I’m after their money or that I’m inferior. I like who I like regardless of background or wealth, but to some people, that’s all they care about. Money and where people went to school. If you admit you like them as they are and don’t admire their wealth or private education, they scorn you.
For many of them, the slave rich people, that’s all they care about because they have to, otherwise they’ll start losing money if they put brain power to anything else. Smart wealthy people know how to make more by doing less, and they know how to socialize without being miserable. It’s rare though.

That hasn't been my experience.
My few encounters with very wealthy people have left me with impressions of these particular people as being humble and hard-working, deserving of their wealth. They've treated me as an equal, with dignity.
I haven't experienced the entire spectrum of people who are wealthy, though.
People are people. All are the same in some ways, all are different in some ways.
Take each as they come into your life and evaluate as needed.
I've always made it clear with everyone I know that where you went to school doesn't impress me. Most of the people I hang out with similarly are not impressed by where someone went to school. I'm not sure who these people are. I know several people with HS/GED making six figures and I know people with PhDs in dumb stuff like "gender studies" that are massively in debt. Nobody ever asks where you went to school after your first job anyway.

I like to ride it out. Free champagne, free French food way beyond my budget, got to eat oysters the size of my head being best friends with a rich guy who owned oyster bars and he even hooked me up with a fancy hot girl back in the day. Yeah, maybe he thought I was lower class trash but he still liked me and bought everything for me and hooked me up big time.
There are lots of rich people, and some are assholes. There are also rich people who may enjoy their money, but don't care how much anyone else has. People who think about it realize that there is always someone with more wealth than they can imagine, and someone with less than they can imagine.
So, don't avoid rich people, avoid stuck-up snobs.
Rich people want to see you learn from them. They usually have a very specific way of life.
Sometimes people who are just wealthy, like to keep a couple broke friends because they're not a threat. Which isn't a bad thing, a lot of wealthy and rich people live stressful lives.
I'm good friends with 3 couples who are what I consider rich, and none of them are anything like that.
If you plan on staying poor forever then I guess so.
No. Who cares what they think. Find ways to add value or don't. Some of them are kind some are not and haughty ahole. Find the good ones. Life is sometimes about playing the odds
No but just don't let them talk down to you
Yes we prefer the help to stay downstairs.
Nah, just learn their language
People like that don't deserve to be your friend.
