What if you woke up one day and found out that your government had passed policies where you as a working person were required to give up 80% of your salary to those that earn less than you, or don't work at all...

If you own your home, or rent, you're assessed extra fees and rent to cover those that are homeless or can't pay their rent... Where your health bills double to help pay for those that cannot pay...

If you don't have a home, you're forced to get on a waiting list so that the needs of others can be considered before yours especially if you have the money needed to get said home or apartment.. If you need groceries you're forced to wait in line, even if you can pay, so that those who do not work can get their share first..

Where if you work extra, outside of your job to make extra money, you can be jailed for it. Where your right to openly criticise the government is gone and your charged with treason for speaking. Where your neighbors are incentivized to turn you in if they hear you talking in a way that is seen as illegal..

What I have just described to you is communism. Most of it is what communist nations are forced to go through. And where, if a certain number of people have their way here in the states, we are headed as a nation..

That isn't real communism but it seems to end up that way whenever anyone attempts to reach it. Communist countries would largely fall under the definition of fascism however instead of using ultranationalism they use ultrainternationalism communism is actually having no government, however absence of centralized authority results in another centralized authority coming to govern.

If anything, most of us would gain some extra money. It's the (super) rich that will lose money... Still not sold on the idea though. Partial socialism is ideal, but going all the way is a no go. Pure capitalism is a nightmare as well after all.

Except that's not true. In our entire history it's the poor that ALWAYS suffers under the yolk of communism. Literally no iteration of it has been different from that.

In practice it's the poor and normal people that suffer. In theory the rich people do not escape the law, which means the poor and normal people prosper. The theory is just hypothetical... just like your question.
And didn't I just say that going ham with just one economic ideology is bad? No need to convince me. I am probably way less influenced by anti-communist propaganda than you and I am still fully aware that communism, in practice (literally every economic ideology in theory is described as the best), sucks ass.

The problem is that someone (really some organization) has to distribute the money, and they always end up being wealthy while everyone else is poor. Soviet Union, Maoist China - the average people were poor, the central party members were wealthy.

It's quite an unrealistic situation so the interpretation of communism differs per person. I've made it clear that I am talking about ideal communism (communism in theory). Most people would initially gain money under ideal communism. How the economy fares afterwards does not matter. It also does not matter what happened in the Soviet Union either.

I just don't understand why some people just continue to comment that communism is the greatest evil of all time when that is just not relevant to the conversation? Why are there so many people completely brainwashed by anti-communist propaganda? How delusional must you be to immediately link an ideology about the state owning all property with your neighbours ratting you out? That's something completely different, it just so happens that most communist leaders are/were tyrannical dictators who found the authoritarian aspects way more appealing than the equality aspects. It is very easy to understand why communism in practice is the way it is. But most people opposing communism and using real life examples as arguments against communism clearly do not understand. It's infuriating. Yes, it's bad, but it works differently from how most anti-communist and especially pro-communist people think it works.

That's not how communism would work if it were magically instituted overnight.

We'd all get much richer, because we'd finally have people like Musk and Bezos paying their taxes and funding all those programs. Subsidizing rent? The real estate companies would be paying that. State owned housing would be provided at much cheaper rates, nationalizing and eliminating the leechlord class.

Not to mention increased taxation on corporations, nationalisation of many key industries, and the elimination of predatory corporate exploitation.

And if it was magically instated, it would be far easier to resist the power hungry tyrants who might attempt to build an authoritarian regime through the communist name.

Communism has been a failed experiment since Karl Marx first proposed it.
The reason capitalism works is because people have a stake in their business and are also property owners so they have a stake in their communities.
With communism there is none of that. People do the minimum amount of work to get by if that. There is no benefit to working harder. Nobody really cares and the whole country
becomes apathetic.
Look how America is after covid. Nobody wants to work. Nobody wants to pay rent. Nobody wants to pay student loans. The credit card debt in this country is at a record amount. What happens when people decide they don't want to pay that back.
