Around the year, 2000 , people found out Friedrick Wegener had ties to the Nazi and the condition, that he discovered, was renamed to granulomatosis with polyangitis. This stripped his name from being remembered in the history books.

a lot of scientific or historical developments came out of horrific things - Nazi scientists contributed a lot to this, there's racial science and eugenics out of human experimentation and if we judge according to modern standards i'm guessing that most, if not all, scientists back in the day were racist or homophobic or misogynistic etc - it doesn't do well to try and cover how something was discovered or by who or else we'd have nothing

You needn't even go that far: look at Hans Asperger. He discovered the condition that bears his name back in the 1930's, but society ignored it for DECADES because of his political affiliations. The man was, in practical terms, forced to be a Nazi. Now, does that mean he rejected their ideals? Of course not. He might've been a dyed-in-the-wool party man who just had a soft spot for his "little professors".

He might've been another Oskar Schindler, lacking only the resources or opportunities. He might've been a normal person trying to do what good he could in an absolutely terrible situation. We'll never know, because he's too dead to tell us, and if he'd come out openly against Nazism after the war, no one would've believed him.

Instead, his work was ignored for decades, and hundreds of thousands suffered for it, all because he was a member of a political party. It's not like pretending he never existed brought twelve million people back to life.

@Lliam Except what they didn't told you at school is that ukrainians joined SS for the only reason - to fight fucking communists and defend the country from this red disease. During World War II, some factions within the Ukrainian nationalist movement, including the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), sought support from Nazi Germany in their struggle against Soviet rule and for Ukrainian independence. Bandera was a key figure in the OUN and its split-off faction known as the OUN-B (Banderites). Bandera's relationship with the Nazis was complex and opportunistic. While some OUN members did cooperate with the Nazis at times, they did not share the same ideology or goals. The OUN's primary objective was Ukrainian independence, whereas the Nazis had their own expansionist and racial goals. Learn the history not to be embarrassed.
