Do you think we should have prison reform?

My take is, given how much we spend annually on prisons for people that (for the most part) are degenerates. Why should we essentially spend so much money to feed and keep these people alive. Given a good percentage of inmates serve the rest of their lives in prison or lengthy sentences.



Personally I think we should give inmates an X amount of years (depending on the length of their sentence and crime) to prove they have realized they made a mistake and want to change and become a better person. Think of it as a probation period. If they fail, they’re put to death. Sounds harsh, but ask yourself. Considering these are people that steal, rape, kill, etc… do they deserve to be treated with respect and dignity? I think not. Everyone has a choice to be a good person, everyone has the opportunity to make good decisions. Criminals make their own choices like everyone else, and anyone can be a criminal.


Just blows my mind how we’re compassionate and considerate of individuals that don’t hold the same regards to others.

It "blows your mind" that a government, given the power to kill people without repercussion, is strongly checked in being able to use that power? That a country that's thrown people in prison for such crimes as "being of Japanese descent" and "failure to pay the fines assessed you for being a rape victim" is struggling because it's TOO SOFT on crime?

I think that prisons are a symptom. We need to address the problem.

Yea, I am sure improvements can be made to the prison system. But you can't focus too much on that and lose sight of the underlying problem.

No, I don't have a solution, but I know that focusing too much on the symptoms instead of the problems doesn't solve anything.

The American police system, justice system and prison system suck. You guys get arrested for the stupidest things. The incarceration numbers are mind boggling for the „land of the free“.

Agreed. Although I don't think it should be as simple as "fail and you die". Once you're stuck in a system like that, it's very easy to slip up again. I don't know what the right way to reform it is but it's definitely needed.

Yeah, but think about how it would discourage criminals from acting up again. The reason why we have repeat offenders in crime is because the country is soft on crime. When people know they can get away with acting up without severe repercussions they’re more likely to do it
