Is This Love or Oppression?

As a traveler, I have always been fascinated by different cultures and customs, and my recent trip to France was no exception. Known for its rich history. However, my experience in this beautiful country was made even more intriguing when I came across a Muslim couple on the beach.

As I strolled along the shoreline, taking in the breathtaking view, my attention was suddenly drawn to a Muslim couple sitting on the sand. The woman was dressed in a burqini – a full-body swimsuit that covers the head, arms, and legs – while the man was in a simple shirt and shorts. They seemed to be enjoying the warm sun, chatting and laughing with each other while holding hands.

At first glance, they really stood out. While everyone else was in their bathing suit. Here these two show up fully dressed. I got intrigued in them so I started observating them and even snapped a pic.

As I continued to observe the couple, they suddenly got up and made their way towards the water. What happened next was something that left me puzzled and a little uncomfortable. After they were far enough into the water, the couple started hugging and soon the hugs turns to kissing passionately.

At one point the man took off his shirt and the wife started kissing his chest, The woman throughout remained fully covered in her burqini. Even while making out with her shirtless husband.

I couldn't help but wonder, how is it fair that the man gets to take off his shirt and have his woman kiss his body, while the woman isn't even allowed to take off her hijab, let alone the rest of her heavy dress?

As I watched from a far, I noticed something else that caught my attention. While the couple was lost in their affection towards each other, the man, in between kisses, kept adjusting the woman's hijab to make sure her hair didn't show.

Even in moments when his wife is expressing her love to him he was still concerned about policing her dress.

How is this fair? Is it love or oppression?
