Why do you believe you're entitled to it?
Greenland has been an American protectorate since WWII. My Grandfather was in the Coast Guard and defended Greenland from the Nazis in the Atlantic. This is the problem, America has been footing the bill in both blood and treasure to defend Europe for far too long. Trump first tried to get NATO members to match American spending by percent of GDP on defense in a good faith effort to maintain the alliance. They ignored his calls for equal responsibility. Strike one. Then a war between Ukraine and Russia broke out in eastern Europe, and again Europe refused to match American spending in the alliance even when a war was on their backdoor step with a nuclear power. Clearly Europe does not care about the defense of their own territory as proven by their consistent behavior. Strike two. So, knowing this and being faced with irreconcilable differences between the United States and Europe, Trump offered to buy the territory of Greenland in a good faith effort to maintain relations with Europe and the security of North America and the general American sphere of influence. America is capable of defending Greenland and defense of Greenland is necessary for global security. Denmark refused to sell. Strike three.
Greenland is home to early detection systems to prevent nuclear strikes targeting the Americas. Thus to maintain a state of readiness it is necessary for America to continue to defend Greenland since Europe will not do their part. American nuclear readiness is the only way to prevent Nuclear Armageddon and thus protect life on Earth. If America’s nuclear warfare systems are strong, then other nations understand Mutually Assured Destruction is the outcome. Thus nobody uses nuclear weapons and we all get to continue to live our normal happy lives. If American nuclear defense are weakened, all the sudden nuclear war seems like a possible option. You start to get mad men in rogue states threatening to nuke other countries, you see Putin speak about being able to wipe out the Eastern Seaboard with a nuclear strike. For humanity’s sake, it can’t be a possible option.
Additionally America needs certain rare earths to maintain military readiness. Some of these are located in the USA, but there are other locations of interest like parts of Canada and Greenland that logistically make sense. Without access to these materials, American weapons systems can’t be manufactured and maintained properly. Thus America is going to acquire control of these resources one way or another. Clearly America has offered Greenland and certain Canadian provinces the opportunity to join the states of their own free will with promises of freedom, lower taxation, and economic investment in partnership to improve everyone’s standard of living and security. America wants to work with our neighbors if and when possible bringing everybody up, but in the event that WWIII were to break out, America would be forced to take those resources without recompense. Ideally a level of force can be maintained to deter WWIII and thus millions of people don’t have to die needlessly. However, there are people that want to weaken America so that China, Russia, and others can run a muck and start a global war generating hell on Earth. That is unacceptable.222 Reply- 1 y
That notion that MORE weapons makes things safer is rather ignorant. Just look at US civil life where you're 4 times more likely to be killed by a firearm than you are to be murdered in Europe or China. NO there is NO need for more destructive tools that's bollox.
Treaties between nations of like minded societies are there for a purpose. It's NOT MIGHT IS RIGHT that's a childish notion that doesn't take into account CULTURE and independent sovereignty. NATO has kept the peace in Europe and stopped the oligarchy and despotic authoritarian regimes in check from Moscow for 3/4 of a century. Sure US is the ONLY nation to use a WMD against civilians and that's how it should be and therefore the threat of use should be enough to keep the fukrs intent on "taking what they want from others because they can" off the table. GTF with that adolescent nonsense.
Greenland IS an ALLY of the US and since it's Danish it is perfectly reasonable to expect if the US wants to ALLY with it to be supportive of COLLECTIVE defence strategy then the US can have it's early warning detection (ffs submarines are just as likely to be the platforms used against US targets but 1950s ideology seems to have become hard wired in the US right wing mentality
FREEDOM? IN US? Freedom from rationality is the only thing US is promoting now. Vaccines, immigrants, FREEDOM from criticism of the Trump Regime, freedom from prosperity so the government can be gutted and commercial interests can redirect taxes TO THEMSELVES. - 1 y
@Shiprex Everyone on my street owns guns. For example my neighbor that lives across the street from me has 14 guns. My neighbors regularly shoot their guns on their own property several times a week and everyone can plainly hear there are guns everywhere around here. Saturday nights are very popular shooting times. In the past decade there has been one murder by a gun in my city and there are more guns here than people. That's right one gun murder in 10 years. I live in a metro of over a million people. I can leave my doors unlocked to my car and my home for days on end and nothing will go missing and nobody will come in and try to hurt me. As an example I have a neighbor that left on vacation for 2 weeks and she accidentally left her front door wide open when she drove to the airport. When she got back two weeks later, nothing was missing. It's very safe here. Everyone knows that everyone else has guns. In contrast when I go to the city where there are often more stringent gun regulations there is far more crime and murder by guns. In the city I personally have had guns pointed at me multiple times even though the concentration of guns is far lower per capita. Your position is not convincing at all, and the crime statistics actually oppose your position. Places with more guns have less crimes. Places with more gun restrictions have more crime. So in other words, you are a liar.
- 1 y
You are aware that the city "with more stringent regulations" doesn't do checks when you enter it to see if your gun loving community decides to stack their 12 rifles and shotguns into their vehicle to take to a hotel room so they can shoot up a concert their room overlooks and kill dozens of innocent people because they could.
Odd how ONLY in America one can say the freedom of movement of people WITH GUNS is used to say guns make you safer. Europe has fewer crimes than US and even fewer murders, gun crime, armed robbery, threatening with firearms and all other violent crime stats as does Australia where they had a single event and THE WHOLE COUNTRY stood up and said NOPE to civilians being "let off" for killing other civilians because they felt threatened.
Respect for life is a fundamental human right that gun lovers seem incapable of grasping an all those mythical anecdotes about leaving doors and windows open means nothing.
Asker1 yGreenland has nothing to do with the United States, it belongs to the people of Greenland. America doesn't need it as security. It never has been a problem until trump came in.
Plenty of Allied nations defended smaller countries during world wars and never felt like they owned the country after.
America has no right for it. They just want it for it's minerals. That's it.- 1 y
You're extremely ignorant of history. The only reason Greenland actually still exists as it is today, is directly thanks to the USA so yes it has a lot to do with the United States. When the Nazis took over Denmark in WWII Greenland was abandoned. Nazis tried to occupied it and even successfully set up some covert weather stations, England and other allies wanted to annex it at the time and make it part of their own country's territory because it was up for dibs at the time, but the United States defended Greenland allowing it to continue to exist. That's why Greenland has defense agreements with the USA today and why we had military bases on Greenland all through the Cold War and still maintain a Space Force base at Thule today. Since WWII America has been an integral part of the continued existence of Greenland, and the United States could have just as easily annexed the island in WWII, but we were nicer than all the other nations that tried to take Greenland including our allies. Greenland was an important staging location during WWII and an important defense location as we entered the nuclear age.

Thank the Germans Socialists, they made it a necessity when they leaked American nuclear secrets to the Soviets thus creating this entire arms race. The danger we all live in today is because of Socialism. The Nazi Bavarian Socialist retards thought, nuclear power should belong to the entire world and everyone should have the bomb. That's were socialism gets you, to the brink of total annihilation.
Asker1 yThat's not true and not what would have happened. England wouldn't have Made it theor territory for look , look at all the other countries they have Colonized? They have all been handed back and Greenland would have been the same.
America weren't saving it as a favor for the native Greenland people, they had other motives. The people who live in Greenland today don't owe America anything.- 1 y
What I told you is well known WWII history. You just claiming it's not true, doesn't make it not true. I told you the chain of events that got us to were we are today. Greenland only exists today because the United States asserted military dominance to defend it. Greenland definitely does owe America and of course America defended Greenland because it had geographic significance that would influence the outcome of WWII and we continued to defend it because it has geographic significance in nuclear defense. None the less, Greenland could have just as easily been part of the UK, Canada, or the USA today if the United States didn't say otherwise. America was the decider of Greenland fate in WWII.
Asker1 yI think you're missing the main point. Regardless of whether America 'saved Greenland ' or any other country , that doesn't mean you own them.
- 1 y
Of course they do or there would not be treaties. You know what treaties are? Contracts. Agreements were made. American can have military bases on the island for our protection and for global protection and even some Danish politicians realize this and are open to America expanding our number of bases in Greenland. They are trying to negotiate because they know they have violated some of the agreements they made with America.

Asker1 yWhen did I say anything about agreements and military arrangements? That is different to buying or over taking a country.
And America won't take over unless the people and denmark Agree. Which won't happen- 1 y
I know you don't care about the law, but you said we don't own them... If you actually read the agreement, you'd know the United States can take parts of Greenland for defensive purposes without compensation to Denmark, build structures, harbors, channels, airstrips, coms towers, weather towers, etc. We can house personnel, bring and take materials and tools without regulations, we have jurisdiction over the locations that we take, so on and so forth. So yes to some extent we own Greenland and have free rein to take locations without compensation and to build things on them.
Asker1 yQoute me the parts where it says America owns it? And even if what you're saying is true, you just have control over small parts , not the country , and certainly not the natural resources
Asker1 yI just looked it up. It's Thule, Sondrestrom and Narsarsuaq.
Those are three tiny towns. Certainly no where close to ' owning ' the country- 1 y
You're really not getting it... The NATO alliance widened its focus from traditional defense and deterrence to hybrid threats such as supply chain disruptions, energy security, and economic coercion. You know like Chinese economic coercion of NATO members on rare earths... Greenland falls under NATO. Critical Raw Materials (CRM) that NATO members need to sustain their militaries, defense industries, and wider economies in peacetime and crisis are included in NATO strategy. So yes, America does certainly have control over natural resources. Being that America is the largest military in NATO, and the largest industrial base and supplier of NATO weapons, those resources are essential for our common defense.

It's illogical and irrational that you fail to see how dumb that is.
Go to Canada for example LOTS of guns there and wtf more restrictions FEWER CRIMES and even fewer gun deaths.
That US has allowed firearms to get into the hands of any motherfukr with a few $ and promoted their free movement even more than that of people is what is retarded.Australia lots of guns lots of restrictions, gun crime LOW
Canada SAME
Europe few guns, hardly any fucking gun crime

1 yWe don't think that, Trump does. He wants to get as much of a National Debt as he can by developing Greenland and rebuilding Gaza, while not doing anything in the rest of the US. So we'll keep having collapsing bridges, huge wildfires, and lots of homelessness and people who can't afford to pay their rent. Isn't that lovely? 😟

Vikings arrived around 2000 years ago and my ancestors left because they hated foreigners and were unable to drive them out or kill them. When they tried, the Vikings kicked their asses.
My ancestors have portrayed themselves as victims of oppression ever since.
But now I want Greenland back because, according to God, it belongs to my people. If its inhabitants don't leave, I'll level all their towns and villages and slaughter every remaining man, woman and child.12 Reply

03 Reply- 1 y
Greenland is part of Demark. We don't let Puero Rico or any other non state territories decide what they want to do. Greenland is the same. They're owned by Denmark. From what I can sell, the US is the only country interested in acquiring Denmark. As well as Canada, Gaza, and the Panama Canal. So really it's a question of Denmark deciding. Yet, Greenland has also decided that they want to stay part of Denmark, so I don't think Demark sees any vale in giving it to the US, when it violates the wishes of those in Greenland and those in Denmark.
