and me and are pretty close and she comes to me with her problems freq. and I don't want to lose that and will it be awkward after I tell her I like her? and after I tell her will we still be friends?

It will be awkward if she does not reciprocate your feelings. I know I hate it when a guy I like starts acting different because he find out I like him, but I know that I've done it too. Just be honest with her about how you are feeling, including that you don't want it to be awkward if she doesn't feel the same way and that you will respect her decision either way. She should appreciate that.
