I am at LEAST amused when I use “LOL”, but I don’t think guys are, at least not when they are chatting with me! I often wonder why guy’s write “LOL” so much. Especially when they just wrote something inappropriate or offensive and I called them on it. Almost every individual text has an “LOL” and sometimes two. it goes like this:
Me: That was really offensive, please don’t talk to me like that again, not in my own DM
Them: Lol sorry my bad, I won’t bring that up again. Lol 🥲
I honestly wonder if they were being serious about being sorry, or what? I mean TWO “LOL’s” and an emoji that is not a sad cry but a happy cry! If someone could explain why guys write “LOL” so much, I’d truly love to know. I actually caught a long-standing “female” GAGer who is really a male IRL because he kept writing LOL inappropriately. I never would have believed she was a guy had HE not use so many damn LOL’s.
Well i at least can assure you that I genuinely laughed a number of times at your comedy miss lol 😂
Awww why thank you sir! And now you know if I “LOL” then at a minimum I thought it was funny 😆
Lol means I am smiling. Lmao means I'm giggling. LMAO means I'm laughing. Haha means it's funny enough to make me smile. Hehe means my mischievous mode is active or I'm trying to make someone laugh.
good to know ;)
lmao
Oh my. The next generations really do come with a handbook.
at least i got some smiles from you last we talked :P
I was teasing and impressed with your categorizing skills.
@Still-alive You are saying to me?
yes lol.
@Still-alive Um I was just being polite as you are elder than me and giving dry reply may be disrespectful.
lol ok then. saying you didn't smile when talking to me? pssh
haha im just teasin. forgive your elder :P

lol
@Still-alive He didn't laugh.
I don't write those things, I find them childish. I use emoticons. It's incredible how they can perfectly describe face expressions at the given moment in a simple drawing (back to stone age?). It's practically a language, that has been evolving too, like any other. I remember when it was just ";-)" for example.
But to answer your question, if "lol" would equal to "laughing-crying emoticon", then it would depend on if I'm in a situation when I can really laugh my ass off (like at home) or on the street, in a bus, at work... I would not laugh like that in public, but I wish I could. My soul surely is.
Honestly? Probably not. It's rare for me to laugh out loud at a text or message someone sends me; it's mostly me just expressing that what said person said was funny. I guess I could just type, "that's funny," but it's not the same.
It's mostly habit more than anything; I rarely see someone type "lol" and mean it.
Psshh you better laugh at my jokes :p
Jk
Some people type that a lot, when I do (which is not too often) I really did just laugh. Now when I see ROFL, I wonder how many really laid down on the floor to roll around.
I never do that, in fact I read it like a sound my dog would make when she is trying to bark, like ROOLF.
The difference between intelligent people, and those thick as pig shit, is that regardless of education, intelligent people understand subtly. LOL fills the role of canned laughter in comedy, it acts as a prompt to people that something humorous was said so they can laugh and pretend they got the joke.
Personally I find it funnier when they don't, which is why I never use it.
Rarely. Usually that denotes you got a chuckle from me, so I'm not being 100% dishonest and staring at a screen deadpan while I type it.
For example, this is something that makes me "lol" in text form, but chuckle irl.
Sometimes. It depends on what I'm talking about when I text someone.
i enjoy making you laugh. gives me a good feeling :)
Most of the time, yes. Sometimes, I just type that when I get bit awkward or embarassed.
Lol lol
Very lol
If I find something amusing, I use “lol” and “lmao”. If I’m actually laughing irl, I type “hahaha”.
alright noted ;)
I don't use them that often honestly.
But when I do, it's everything from chuckling in my head, to exhaling extra hard out my nose to actually laughing out loud.
Sometimes, I use it to show that I think something is funny, that or the smile emoji since the person can't see my facial expressions or hear my vocal inflections.
If i feel happy but i usualy write lmfao laughing my fucking ass of and a also love the band am sexy and i know nd there other songs to
Rarely. I have to add in an lol or a lmao like every other sentence.
I feel like without it, it sounds too serious. When im actually laughing I’ll do a “LMAOOOOOOOO”
Sometimes I am, other times I just type that to be nice or I don't want the person that I'm talking to understand that I'm bored.
Sometimes i laugh sometimes i dont if i put “lmfaoo” in lowercase its likely a bluff but “LMFAO” in all caps with extra O’s I actually laughed.
If I'm really laughing then I'll put "😂😂😂" or "lmaoooo". I use "lol" as conversation fillers basically. Lol.
I don't think I've ever typed "lol" or "www" in my life in this context. I do laugh emoji sometimes but I'm usually not laughing much when I do it.
I always thought "lol" felt weird and I'm old enough to have been around in the earliest stages of the internet and even dial-up services before the internet. It always felt strange to me when people are typing, "lol" in a chatroom. I like emojis way better like this. :-D The people who write that do come across as friendly though but it was always curious to me how they developed this instinct of typing in "laughing out loud", and why there's an emphasis on "out loud" when I doubt they're actually doing it out loud. Then there's like "ROFLMAO" and I'm almost certain they aren't rolling on the floor trying to reach up to their keyboards to type this. Well, it's just an expression. I'm not this stupid to realize it's just a friendly expression! But I don't know, it feels weird.
It's actually kind of tickling my insanity. Why are you telling me you are laughing out loud when you aren't? I have seen people type "lol" and they're not doing it out loud! THIS IS A BETRAYAL ON A LEVEL I HAVE NEVER SEEN!
ARE YOU FUCKING WITH ME? I'M IN THE SAME OFFICE! YOU JUST MESSAGED ME "LOL" SITTING ACROSS FROM ME AND YOUR FACE DIDN'T EVEN SMILE MUCH AT ALL! YOU'RE EITHER LAUGHING OUT LOUD OR YOU AREN'T! YOU JUST SAID YOU ARE AND MY EYES AND EARS SAY YOU AREN'T! AM I THE CRAZY ONE OR AM I BEING DECEIVED?
YOU CAN'T BE DOING WHAT YOU AREN'T UNLESS YOU TYPED THIS TO ME FROM A PARALLEL UNIVERSE! AND I CAN'T SEE THE PARALLEL UNIVERSE I ONLY SEE THE ONE I'M IN NOW! ARE YOU EVEN ALIVE? AM I ALIVE? WHAT IS IS AND WHAT IS NOT?
yes...
@dustybiker made me startle the kitten, just yesterday
No idea what that means but it sounds inappropriate.
@dustybiker lol...
@dustybiker now I see it as well... lol
haha
lol Just dawned on me. My version was completely pg. The kitten getting startled is inappropriate, since cats take offense to almost everything like that. Blaming me for making you laugh was what I meant. 😝
@dustybiker of course I meant PG... lmao
Oh thank God that’s straightened out. 😂
@dustybiker absolutely... lol
Sometimes I'm laughing, other times its more of a chuckle.
Sometimes I'm actually laughing, most times it's little giggle or smirk, perhaps a chortle. LOL <~~~ yeah, I actually laughed out loud when I typed that.
