What Makes You Want To Follow Someone On Social Media?

Question

I am asking this question because I am growing a food page on IG and a few other social media platforms. I love to cook, bake and share recipes. I want to know what makes you want to follow someone? 👀 Also, all advice is welcome! You may be able to help someone else reading 😊😉

You can never go wrong with good videography and simply adding some background music, so if you had to allocate between getting good cameras and getting good audio setup definitely prioritize video. Recipe in description as well as mentioned in the video with open caption is amazing, but prioritize recipe in description as it's just easier. People always eat with their eyes first so be very diligent with good lighting!

But if you can afford good audio setup as well try to go for good ASMR sound effects, people love that. I certainly love the sound of crispy and crunchy food. Or sounds of a soup/broth boiling or something sizzling as you're frying it.

If you're making something like a dumpling or a pie or cake definitely include a shot showing how it looks on the inside, maybe after biting it or cutting it. Everyone is curious about that.

If you're making something that is not vegetarian or vegan, mentioning what ingredients you can use as a plant-based substitute in the description would be appreciated by many. I'm not a vegetarian or vegan but when I cook I mostly cook plant-based stuff simply because I find it easier to just throw everything together and cook something lol.

Definitely get an air fryer if you haven't already as air frying has been a big trend right now.

To sum it up- I either like their taste/ preferences.

I like their mindset. (How they present themselves to the public/ how they talk/ what they talk about)

I like their skill (the way they do things/ express themselves/ talent etc.)

I like their style. (Their choice in clothes etc.)

Some rare ones I follow if they are doing things I wanted to do and they do it kind of how I planned/envisioned. I learn a bit, and get to enjoy the reality of what I had envisioned come into play. It’s usually really cool.

They have something I’m interested in; it’s something about the page, too. If it veers off subject from time to time, that’s ok, but I like it when a page follows through on what the subject is supposed to be about most of the time.

A page should have some sort of “voice” or feel like there’s a person (or people) behind it - not always some marketing team with a rehearsed answer or just responding with a promotion. I like actual responses on occasion. So many pages just seem like it’s left “on read” - they automate a post, and then ignore any responses.

Hello,

I only follow people I’m interested in, I follow pages that peak my interest like my favourite football teams, things to do with space, animals, nature, things that keep me hooked.

I also follow people I like, like Robert Downey Jr, Johnny Depp and Lionel Messi.

I follow Lensball and things to do with photography, I also follow a couple of YouTubers.

As I grow I will change and my interests will change, but that’s what I follow for now anyway.

Good, you are just the person I can ask. When baking a frozrn pie in a regular oven, should you put a cookie sheet under it while it's baking so the bottom crust doesn't get all uncooked and doughy?

I tend to follow people who ask me to follow them or people who seem to live or work close to me or have connections to people I know. But when it comes to random following people - I follow people who are drama free, do not have any serious flaws, and seem innocent and happy.

3. Pages for certain fandoms i follow
