Why do people try to avoid it when someone wants verification that they’re real?

Like i ask for a real time selfie from someone i meet on instagram, for verification and they’re like “i dont need to prove myself to you” and stuff like that, like WTF? Like what are you hiding that you won’t do this simple thing? It’s ridiculous. You’re literally saying that you’re a scammer by not doing that. If you’re real then showing a picture won’t do much except prove that fact but if you’re fake then you’re exposed so that’s probably why you won’t want to

Well it's probably because they aren't really who they are pretending to be. They might not be a scammer since lots of people do that just because they want to.

I used to pretend to be a girl when I was a kid because I liked boys and didn't realize that I was gay. When people asked me for pictures I said the same stuff or gave excuses like my phone is broken, I'm not allowed to, or stuff like that.

But it's also possible that they just don't want to show for other reasons like they are scared of you doing something with it, they feel gross at the moment and don't want to show, or that they didn't realize you'd ask and feel it's going to far.

The lesson here is that you shouldn't be trying to meet people online, because 99.9% of them won't live local to you and you will never meet them, so ultimately you are just wasting each other's time. Instead, spend that time either with your friends (and meeting their other friends, and growing your friends circles that way) or getting involved in local activities where you are likely to meet new circles of friends.

I promise you, meeting people in person is FAR more productive.

@MrOracle My friends are busy with their own lives. And they never introduce me to anyone even when i ask. And I have nowhere to go to meet people in person. I’m also a huge Asocial person and introvert

You don't have a book club, bowling alley, softball league, fishing tournament, cooking class, etc. where you live? I doubt that. And if you want a relationship, you're going to have to get past being introverted, and get used to being outside your comfort zone.

Or, you can keep wasting your time trying to find women online. The years will keep ticking by, gone forever, and you won't be any closer to success.

@MrOracle No i don’t, I live on an island. Hawaii doesn’t have much. Also those aren’t my interests. I have no idea how to talk to people so. Also there’s a limit to meeting people in your area what if you want to meet people in another country or state?

Then you need to move.

The whole POINT of a relationship is to spend time with that person IN PERSON. "Online (romantic) relationships" are more illusion than real. They will waste your time and energy but won't ever fulfill you. If you want that fulfillment, you need to live locally to the person you're in a relationship with.
