10 moI used to have an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S20) but now have an iPhone (16). Both have their pro’s and cons. The iPhone actually cost the same amount as the Samsung Galaxy phones. iPhone 16 is $799 and Samsung Galaxy 25 is listed as $800. Also, iPhones have been using USB-C since 2023.
Overall, I like the iPhone more but it is more complicated to use when it comes to files, since apps on iPhones don’t automatically file share the way they do on Android phones (it’s part of their security setup). Android phones are more user friendly and straightforward but iPhones are higher quality and allow you to do a lot more, so it’s a trade-off. Like, I like how straight out of the box my iPhone lets me screen record any videos I see online and save them to my phone. It also lets me extract the audio out of any video and create an audio file of it. I use that a lot for making offline music playlists. I just go on YouTube, screen record the video of whatever song I want, then extract the audio afterwards. I’ve found a lot of cool live performances of songs, as well as different versions of songs, you can’t find on any music streaming app. You can also use those features to make any alert sounds and tones that you could possibly think of, for your phone. If you’re in to doing all that customization stuff it can be a lot of fun.
Besides that, the iPhone’s camera’s are better and they also have the best built in speakers of any phone out there. Many of the apps that come on iPhone are also really nice.
So if you want a phone that’s ready to go and easy to use right out of the box - one you don’t have to think too much about - I’d go with an Android. But if you want a higher quality, but a bit more complex, experience that allows you to do some neat things that Androids can’t do (or if you take lots of pictures and videos), I’d say go with an iPhone. Both offer great experience though, and I do wish the user experience was a bit easier on my iPhone. (Oh, and switching from Android to iPhone was a pain. It seriously took me several days just to get everything set up on my iPhone how I wanted it. And even then there was a lot I had to learn when it came to how iPhones operate.)21 Reply- 10 mo
This was a great review of the iPhone vs the Android phone. Still team Android lol because I actually had to use an iPhone on the job when I worked for the Census and absolutely hated it. But I can understand the great features it offers and why you are team iPhone.

I prefer Android, mostly because it's what I've used since smartphones became a thing, and it's just what I'm used to.
Aside from that, I don't own any Apple products, so there's no real incentive for me to own an iPhone, since I wouldn't be able to integrate all the various products together that I don't have.
Plus, iPhones have always seemed to be more of a "cliquey" thing, to me; like a status symbol. You weren't "cool" unless you own the latest and greatest iPhone every year, and only losers owned last years model. *Insert dramatic eye roll*
I never liked that aspect of "iPhone culture" which always kind of pushed me away from ever wanting one. I keep my shit until it literally stops working, so I'll be damned if I'm buying a new phone every year, just to keep up with trends.

I refuse to buy anything from Apple. I think they are an unethical corporation and they treat their own customers with disdain and exploitative marketing techniques. I further think most of their equipment is designed to fail after a fairly short period of time and it is unreasonably overpriced as well.

10 moAndroid and jot for reasons like one is better than the other cause it's not. It's because of apples anti consumer practices, like bricking laptops and phones for replacing screens and batteries. Or the fact that apple would see someone like me who fixes his own devices sent to prison for it.
Fuck apple.41 Reply- 10 mo
Yes fuck apple!
10 moI switched from android to iphone to get away from google. There is an associated learning curve, but i like it just fine. I like that i can remove or replace any app i want and i have more control over my privacy and permissions. Google is the world heavyweight champion of stealing your personal information and selling & trading it for profit without your knowledge and permission. Let alone giving you a cut.
That should be a series of crimes as far as i’m concerned.13 Reply- 10 mo
I'm sure Apple does the same thing if not worse. I trust Google before I trust Apple.
- 10 mo
Having had both, Apple gave me control over privacy and permissions that android never did. I got tenfold more spam calls, texts and emails on android and google than i do on iphone and icloud. I can delete every app on my phone, if i want. Android doesn’t allow that. They have fixed apps that you can’t remove, can’t disable and can’t control their access to all other aspects of the device. That’s how google gets access to literally everything. Believe what you want, but you are flat out wrong if you think they’re the same. I did extensive research before i switched and my experience with both platforms supports everything that i read and watched before i switched.

I'm sorry but Apple products suck. I've had to work with an IPhone when I worked for the Census before and it was the worst phone I ever used. Don't get me started on the MacBook. It's great that you've found great use out of it but I never will.
10 moI am team Android use to have every iPhone up until the ten. I was introduced to android and never looked back i have the galaxy ultra my charge literally last all day I dont have to be tethered to the wall all day trying to charge me phone i have two terabytes of memory which is way more than I can ever use and I have all of my music and over 50 movies on my phone not to mention android have power share I can charge my galaxy buds with my phone plus it charges fast like 80% charge in a half our and im not locked in to apple I can go to any cite and get whatever program or movie I want. 10 moI've been team android since I got my first phone. I was picked on for not having a iphone, cuasing me to be biased. Genuinely for the longest android phones had the best features versatility and had many unique concepts roll out over time. I've been a loyal samsung user since I got my galaxy note 4. I have a s23ultra now. Due to ill just say "life" financially I have to accept a free iphone 16 pro to fix a problem im currently going through. Still team android but ill give a honest try to this iPhone. Wish me luck...

10 moiPhone only because of my investment in Apple infrastructure and familiarity with the Apple iOS. But I'll readily admit there is no practical difference between Apple and Android in design, features, or performance. Cheapest device wins. They are all good enough.

m 10 moI'm specifically always in the team that is not Apple lol. For practical reasons, since the point of Apple is to target an audience who wants less things to control and more friendly devices. I want more control then what Apples aims at, so I'm staying away from Apple products.

10 mo100% Team Android. I like having actual new features and not having to have them "new" 10 years later. I like that I have more control over my phone's functionality. I love the camera on it. They feel sturdier. I use an iMac at work so I'm familiar with some of Apple's features. I'm in no way saying that Apple products suck. They're just built for different preferences
10 ReplyiPhone because, well I don’t know why actually, that is what I have always had, I prob. just liked their ads originally or maybe it was b/c most of my friends had iPhones. As for today, still most of my friends have iPhones so it would be a little annoying to switch, and I have no actual reason I would want to switch.
10 ReplyTeam Android, not limited to one brand of Phone, and I can have different handsets for different needs, as if I'm travelling abroad I'll use a cheap handset so if I loose it its no big loss. When I'm working I used a Ruggedised Handset, with different apps to the cheap handset.
20 ReplyMy Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has far superior professionsl grade camera with a zoom lens, a wideangle lens & a ma cro super closeup lens as well as the standard front and back lenses. iPhone chips, screens and other parts are manufactured by Samsung.

Many Android phones are more expensive than iPhones. It depends on what model you’re looking at. Most people who have Androids get the Samsung Galaxy models which are priced the same as iPhones when they release. Currently, the Samsung Galaxy S25 is $800 and iPhone 16 is $799. So Androids that are on the same level as iPhones, as far as features and capabilities go, will cost around the same price. There are cheaper Androids out there, though. So in that sense they can be cheaper.
10 moiPhone. I already use iPhone from 2009. I tried android on 2018 but back to iPhone on 2019. I think i already comfortable with it.
