Can someone talk with me about this?

The guy I'm seeing doesn't make me feel special or even important to him. He didn't want to see me today because he's focused on studying so he can start this sales job asap. He also said he "doesn't want to make his mom mad or feel like he's using her." Since he's 23 living with her "jobless" and he uses her car 🤦🏻‍♀️ then said he didn't have anything planned because he's broke too.

I seriously want to believe him but there's that little voice in the back of my mind that thinks he's seeing someone else and he just gave this "excuse" so he didn't have to see me today. Someone please just share your opinion on this.

Whether it’s an excuse or not, he’s showing you his inability to make you a priority or celebrate with you on such an important day and I think that not only sucks but is pretty damn hurtful.


I know you’re probably doing your best to make peace with the fact you won’t see sim today, but to me that is settling, and beginning pattern of not only accepting but accommodating his disappointments. I also don’t think it’s smart investing in a man who has nothing to offer you right now. I know you’re young but damn, no job, no car, lives with his mom… come on girl, he is a dusty.


You can do better and should honestly want more for yourself because this is what you’re going to get next year. Probably the year after that too, along with your birthday and likely other holidays. I wouldn’t want to sign up for that.

Don’t feel down today! Hang out with your friends, do something for yourself like an at home spa day. Even if you’re feeling unmotivated, I think you’ll feel worse if you sit around and sulk. He’s showing you now that he doesn’t deserve that energy and to be honest, this is a blessing for you. Why? Because now you see his true colors and can toss him to the side. No more chances, once you know better you do better. He’s not worth it babe!

First of all get out of your feelings. To me it doesn’t sound like he’s making up excuses or seeing someone else. To me this is about his future, which would include you if all things go well. So understand he’s trying to make something better of himself, not just for his benefit but for yours as well. I can understand what he means in regards to his mom. If he’s a descent man, has morals, men don’t like to feel like they’re a burden on people that’s why we usually don’t spill our problems, our issues on others the way a lot of women do. In all honesty this day for most men is just another day. It doesn’t have that same affect on men the way it does on women.

From what you described, I doubt he is seeing someone else. It's hard to tell in my opinion if he's making excuses or not. The job thing makes sense to a degree but it's also Valentine's Day with a newer relationship. I'm torn myself.

Yep. It's Valentine's day. Means shite to us but means something to you, and he's putting you in side chick zone on a day that you likely care about.
