Why do guys ask for your number and then not use it?

I think we all know the answer to this question, but are afraid to say it because we are a bit concerned that some people might not agree with it. This situation does apply for guys2guys as well. I think it boosts their self esteem. The fact that you were interested(or drunk enough), to give them your number can really improve, or build up their ego, which can be a negative and positive thing. They can also boast to their guy friends about how much game they got, a kinda pissing contest if you will.

When I go out I get at least get 3-5 numbers, heck I don't know why, just because the girl gave it to me. If I like one of them I will prob call them. Sometimes we do it to see how many numbers we can get as kind of a game with other guys, we hit up a party and say I bet I can get at least 4 numbers and they say bet you 10 bucks I can get more, and well you mingle, and then at the end of the night if you don't end up going home with the one of the girls then, we say how many did you get?

I'm guessing you're dealing with attractive guys since you are very attractive . The simple reality is that good looking guys will get several numbers on a given night . Some guys gauge their evening's effectiveness by the number of girls they met . Depending on what he is looking for at the time, he'll call the girl he feels is the best candidate to give him what he wants . Also guys know the numbers "expire" if they aren't called with-in a reasonable time . Many times guys get distracted before they get around to calling .

The reasons I wouldn't ring would be because I was out drinking that night and I forgot I got your number or shyness!

We forget or find another girl in the meantime.

Guys know if they will actually call you within the first few minutes of meeting you. They'll say they'll call to be nice.

Some guys just like knowing girls will give them their number.

They might get it when they are drunk but when they wake up the next day they are not going to remember what you look like or why they even liked you.

they just do that when they don't call it means it was just to see if you would or it was a game with the guys.

because they are testing you to see if you will give it to them right away because for most its a game, my brother does it,but I'm probably wrong

Could be a number of reasons, they lost it, they just forgot about you, they changed their minds, someone else came along they wanted to give ago instead, too shy (not likely), doesn't know what to say, probably a biggy is scared of rejection.

1. As a contest or game between guys of who gets more girls' numbers.
2. To boost their ego by showing off how many numbers they got.
3. They were drunk.
4. They don't even remember you.

Yeah, or someone gives you there phone number and then your afraid to call it. But one time I asked for a guys phone number and I was too scared so I had my friend do it but it was the wrong number.

That's a good question, sometimes guys just like seeing what we really think of them, because us being girls think it might just be a sign of them liking us, so they take that to their advantage, if you truly like a guy don't give them your number the first time they ask.

Sometimes they just want to be able to tell their buddies, "Hey, I got that chick's number!"

Bc they ask for other numbers from other girls and talk to them instead of you.
