Okay, so I definitely had this problem last week because I was talking to this guy and he texted me first one day, then the next day he didn't so I texted him first on the third day. I couldn't text him first again without seeming pathetic or needy or . . . whatevs and we def haven't talked since. It's a stupid rule but one we all follow. We don't want to follow it but when we don't then we feel stupid. Like a guy can *say* he's chill with a girl texting him first but when she does then he auto-thinks she's being clingy or needy or whatever. It's cool for a guy to text a girl everyday but if you flip it then a girl looks pathetic.

She's outgoing and just started going out with a somewhat shy guy. They usually never talk on the phone so they are always texting each other. She was telling me how she hates it when he doesn't text her first or doesn't ask her "whats wrong" if she didn't reply back. I told her that it was because of his personality and that maybe he does care but just doesn't want to show it.
I think both parties should text first equally/once in a while.
Getting a text and seeing that it's from a certain guy definitely puts a smile on my face. I don't think it's clingy unless he's constantly texting. Do I wait for a guy to text first? No. I'd like to think that it makes a guy feel good to get a text from me too lol

YES! I'm just the type of person who like being texted first, regardless of gender or whatever, I always feel like I'd be bothering the other person or something. Hah. That is just one of my many neuroses. :P But guys especially, I like them to text me first. BUT, if you do text a girl, at least have something to talk about. I can't count how many awkward conversations I've had with guys who text me but have NOTHING interesting to say.
girls LOVEEEE guys texting first. it makes us feel special and that the guy cares and is interested. that he actually WANTS to talk to us. I always wait till he texts me, hoping he does so too. lol its not clingy unless you make it like, where were you and crap. but a good morning text in the moring and stuff is always an amazing why to start a day. :]
Absolutely. If I like a guy I will try to make the effort to text him first sometimes but generally I like the guy to do it first, especially if I don't know how he feels about me. I really worry about being the first to text because I'm scared he won't reply or that I'm annoying him.
definitely texting her first is the way to go. if you make her wait, shell think your just being a d*ck and she's being played and shell move on. but if she texts you first, believe me, she's not happy about it. its only clingy if you over-text her..seem mysterious and make her wait a little. but not too long!

Yes, Girls Love being texted first. It shows that the guy is interested or wants to be friends at the very least. This is a good way for a guy to build a frienship
