I've been dating a guy for a few weeks but recently he asked for more space. He had many things going on at work and had to take the time to think about what he's gonna do next year. He messages and calls me regularly. We spoke on the phone today and he asked if we are going to see each other before Christmas. I said it would be good. He said he's going to be busy with work this week and started talking about the weekend. But I said I already made plans with a friend I haven't seen in ages. He said it was okay as he also has things to do. Then, he said we could try next week. And he told me to let him know. When we were saying goodbye he said "we will catch up soon, let me know". What does it mean? Did he just say it to sound polite but he isn't planning on seeing me or what? Plus, he was saying he is going away for Christmas and New Year's Eve or spending it with friends and he mentioned I'm seeing my family and friends. So it seemed like he showed some distance between us. I said I didn't have any specific plans for the New Year's Eve and he started saying he was sure I was going clubbing etc. Should I be worried he doesn't plan is to Spend holidays together or is it just too early in dating?
I am not sure. He might be planning to cancel on you as well, since you already told him "no" for the weekend. It's hard to tell because I don't know him as a character, therefore I cannot tell what he actually meant by that.

It's over. "Space" is what a pussy says for breakup. It makes you think he'll want you again at some point in the future which never happens. It also leaves the door open for him to fuck you when he can't find someone else
