Do you HAVE to count calories or carbs to lose weight?

Do you have to count calories or carbs to lose weight? What if I just watched what I ate instead?

For example, in the morning i'm eating a half cup of uncooked oats with a little cinnamon, for snack i'll eat a small red apple sometimes with just a little peanut butter, sometimes just plain. For lunch i'll eat a small salad with a few peices of grilled chicken and for dinner i'll eat grilled chicken & veggies or spaghetti squash w/ homemade tomato sauce (just a couple examples)

Is what i'm doing okay so far to lose weight? Since i'm not counting calories or carbs? I'm doing small portions every time I eat as well.

The oats are then cooked after measured ofc haha just half cup is my starting measurement *
