I told someone I wasn't interested in him but I am and don't know how to fix things?

I decided to start hanging out with an old friend nate I started hanging out with nate when my ex and I started trying to be friends when I was talking to my ex I mentioned I had hung out with nate he asked if I liked nate I said no i really like hanging out with him though my ex said I should be careful not to lead him on if I only want to be friends and that I should say something to nate I didn't want to a few days later nate texted me and said he was in town with friends and asked me to come hang out I had things to do and would in a bit couple hours later he said they were going to get food if I want to join I said I'd already ate so I'd just hang out another day then he ditched them and came to hang out with me we hung out the rest of the day and at one point we went and met up with the friends he'd ditched then we left them again The next day my ex texted me and said that he just heard I'm dating nate and wanted to know if it was true I said no its not true and he got mad and didn't believe me and told me the rest of what he had heard which was that I was dating nate having sex with him all the time and that my ex had cheated and beat me understandably my ex was mad since he never did those things my ex's brother was the one who told him about the rumor which he heard from a coworker that happen to be one of the friends of nates I'd met the day before so I bitched at nate thinking he'd said something he apologized and talked to her about stopping the rumor then my ex convinced me that it was time to tell him I'm not interested in being more than friends which I kind of agreed so I told him that because of what she had said I felt that I should tell him I'm not interested in dating him basically he said he was cool with being just friends we joked a little and he hasn't text me since it's been two weeks now.. and I've realized I do like him I don't know how to fix things with him now so help? My ex said we can't be friends if I'm talking to nate my ex has gf?

My ex never liked me around nate. They were hanging out one day and nate described his dream girl and it was a description of me, my ex said so my gf and he said oh I guess so. From then on nate wasn't around much..

Have you ever heard "honesty is the best policy?" In this case, it's very, very true. Granted, I don't know the guy, but I believe that if you just tell him what you just told us, he'll understand. Also, I'm not sure I fully understand from your question (please learn to use a period ;) ) but it sounds like your ex has moved on but expects you not to. Does he have issues with this Nate guy, or is he just trying to control you? If it's the former, maybe he's concerned for you, but if it's the latter then that's something you're going to have to put an end to if you want a healthy friendship to continue.

You have to let both go. I doubt Nate will ever trust you. If you tell him you like him now after telling him you didn't and eventually have sex he will think your just crazy and slutty which you may or may not be. Be honest. You should have just told him I am not sure so let's take it very slow.

Are you a girl or boy? This last part makes no sense My ex said we can't be friends if I'm talking to nate my ex has gf? Do you mean ex bf? It sounds messy I would ditch all parties to be honest I wouldn't listen to ex or the nate sound like they are both playing mind games tbh. Iwould stay single if was me or find someone new.

That is a whole lot of stuff haha okay. So basically you told your friend you only wanted to be friends, and he probably thought ah friendzoned, and then is now not really sure if he should text you etc, but you are not dating anyone. So since you are single and you like him, tell him. He is not going to all of a sudden NOT like you if its been 2 weeks, and who cares if your ex doesn't like him, that is your EX for a reason. Go for the guy Nate if you like him
