im 20 but I remember what I liked to talk about in high school. id avoid asking dead ended questions like "what is your favorite color?" because it can only go so far and its also really cliche and unoriginal. ask her things like "where is your favorite place in the world to go?" and ask her why. ask her fun questions that make her think. like "if you could go back in time and change one thing about your life, what would it be?" or you could get into deep conversations by asking her if she is religious and at all and talking about that or asking what her political views are or if she believes in life after death or talk about things like that. in all honesty, if there is chemistry between you two then no matter what you bring up...you should be able to just go with the flow afterward and keep the conversation going. :) good luck!
p.s.
you can ask her what she wants to do when she grows up. what her secret talents are.

I had the same problem when I was 15; after meeting, my boyfriend and I basically became friends over IM. He asked me everything from my favorite color and foods, places I've been, what I like to do, favorite past Halloween costume, etc. It sounds pretty basic but it can be fun. We just talked about our days and stuff too, and you can go from there (you could ask something like what her least favorite class is, there's usually more to talk about that way than asking about her favorite one haha). Asking about music can lead to you making her a cd, or movies can lead to going to the theater! Anyway, hope this helps and good luck!
Talk about anything! When you really go blank talk about something you see going around you and make it funny. This is probably gonna sound corny but a few the guys I've talked to played twenty questions with me. It was fun and helped us get to know eachother.
One great way you can enjoy your time together is to tell jokes! I used to tell lots of jokes to my friends at your age, girls included ;-) Also you could ask her stuff from the movies, like memorable quotes and such, and ask her if she could remember them exactly. If she's into board games or videogames/manga/comics/toys you can talk to her about them; plus pets you've owned, places you've been to, things she likes to eat etc. You could even ask her if she's ever met any famous people in her life for example...who inspires her in the world etc.
If you go onto more 'adult' stuff like current world politics or philanthropy, religion, environmentalism, humanitarianism, you got a whole can of worms there! I guess there's a lot of things you can talk about!
How was your day?
What do you think about devorce?
Do you like cake? If so what's your favorite?
Favorite restaurant?
or play the question game

haha oh boy I'm in high school too lol I'm 16 umm I'm a girl lol well usually I would try to find things to talk about but I mean starting off with one thing like oh what do your parents do lol anything like that and then you can ask what's your favorite band maybe you guy's will find more common interest. Then maybe from that that'll remind you of sometime that something happened and you can tell her a story of what happened to you and she might have something to tell you too. or ask something like what's the craziest thing that's happened to you. hope this helps! :p
Ask her about her day, her classes, play I ask you a question, you ask me a question, and ask like favorite color, favorite movie, if she has any pets, where she wants to go to college, if she plays any sports, just small talk and hopefully a conversation will come off of that
