Its tricky because if you do not say anything and he finds out on his own or worse is confronted by your ex he may think you are cheating or sneaky. I think you should. Whenever an ex would contact me and if I was in a relationship I always told my boyfriend about it so he wouldn't think I was the one contacting him. I also dont like surprises and would hate if someone I was seeing wasn't being honest when it came to their exes.
If it's bothering you, then I think it wouldn't hurt to tell him about it. He will most likely be understanding as long as you tell him that you want to be with him and not your ex. It's often better to just tell your boyfriend things that are going on instead of hiding it and then having him find out and then getting the wrong idea or something.
