I believe that it is still a relationship. If you only talk to each other (or communicate in some way) only once a week, then I would start to think that there is a problem. I haven't seen my boyfriend in a week, because he has been very busy, so it really depends on his work and school schedule. My friend once had a relationship where she didn't see him for 2-3 weeks. Now that is not a relationship... she knew that and ended it. As long as there is effort to see each other, then I thinkit is a real relationship :)

I don't think there's one definition of what makes a "proper relationship". A relationship is defined by the people in that relationship, and no two relationships are the same.
Personally, I see my boyfriend every day, but that's because we live together. But for the first few years of my previous relationship, my (ex)boyfriend and I only saw each other about once a week... and we still considered it a relationship.
On average, I see my boyfriend 4 days a week. Everyones relationship is different though. There are factors that can affect how often you see each other... Like how far away you live from each other and what your work or school schedules are.
I have a similar situation - my girlfriend of 5 months is a busy bee and we only see each other once or twice a week, plus calling/texting. We'd like to see each other more often but have acknowledged that it's not feasible due to us having other commitments and priorities, so we try to keep things simple and not pressurize or get angry with the other when one of us has to cancel a date. Also means we try to make the most of it when we do meet and probably appreciate the others' company more.
be grateful you can still see him. Once a week is not so bad -__-''

i'm sure its tough seeing each other so little, but what really matters is how intense it is when you do see each other.
Once a week still qualifies as a relationship.
