The best thing to do is to just flat out ask him if you two are a couple or not. You don't want to be with him and then down the road he's like "we aren't together in that way". Ask him now to avoid heartache. The earlier you find out what you two are, the better things will be between you two.

I'm a straight forward person, so I would just flat out ask him: what are we? and what are his intentions?
theres nothing wrong with talking to a partner about what intentions etc are in fact that's what people should be doing instead of jumping in the sac
Just don't do it the way my wife did. She almost scared me off..."So where do I stand?" and she asked me that at least a couple of times...o.O

How to Ask a Guy Where the Relationship Is Going
It can be tough to gauge where a relationship is going, especially in the early stages. You don't want to come on too strong and scare the guy off, but you also don't want to waste your time if he's not interested in anything long-term.
So how can you tell if a guy is ready to take things to the next level?
Here are a few signs to look for:
1. He wants to spend more time with you.
If a guy is interested in a serious relationship, he'll want to spend as much time with you as possible. He'll make plans in advance and try to include you in as many aspects of his life as he can.
2. He's introduced you to his friends and family.
A guy who is ready to take things to the next level will want you to meet the people who are important to him. He'll introduce you to his friends and family and make sure you feel comfortable and welcome in his life.
3. He's honest with you.
A guy who is interested in a serious relationship will be honest with you about his feelings and what he's looking for. He won't play games or try to lead you on; he'll be upfront and honest from the start.
4. He's supportive of your goals and dreams.
A guy who is interested in a serious relationship will want to see you succeed. He'll be your biggest cheerleader and will support you in pursuing your goals and dreams.
5. He makes an effort.
A guy who is interested in a serious relationship will make an effort to please you and make sure you're happy. He'll go out of his way to do thoughtful things for you and will always be there when you need him.
If you're wondering whether a guy is interested in taking things to the next level, look for these signs. If he's exhibiting all of them, then it's likely that he's ready for a serious relationship.
How to Ask Him What We Are
If you're wondering what the status of your relationship is, it can be tough to bring it up with your partner. You don't want to come across as needy or clingy, but you also don't want to waste your time if he's not on the same page. So how do you ask him what we are without sounding desperate?
Here are a few tips:
1. Be confident.
The worst thing you can do is to hesitate or second-guess yourself. Go into the conversation knowing what you want to say and feeling good about it. This will make it easier for him to respond positively.
2. Be direct.
There's no need to beat around the bush. Just ask him directly what he sees as the status of your relationship. This will save you both time and energy.
3. Be prepared for anything.
Even if you're pretty sure he feels the same way about you, he might not be ready to define the relationship just yet. Be prepared for this possibility and don't take it personally if he needs more time.
4. Be positive.
End the conversation on a positive note, regardless of his answer. Thank him for being honest with you and let him know that you're still interested in seeing where things go.
Asking him what we are can be a scary proposition, but it's important to know where you stand. By following these tips, you can do it in a way that's confident, direct, and positive.

If you have to ask that question, you know where you stand.
By not asking or fearfully asking you are being clingy and desperate...
And maybe you are desperate and hungry, there is nothing wrong with that.
However, you want to sit down with him in a serious way and ask him about the vision of the relationship.
What does he see. What do you see.
Does it match up and are we willing to match it up if we aren't on the same page or are we going to end it.
But think... you are on gag asking us this question... If you were in a serious relationship would u be here asking this question? Look a lot people think they are in a serious relationship... Serious relationships require foundational work. Casual relationship are the type of relationship you can wing. Dont wing something serious. You want to have a joint vision and you want to make sure you guys are moving toward it every month. I wouldn't try to go to California without using Google Maps and looking at it often. Don't wing your relationship.Simply, just ask him what he wants out this and if he's seriously looking for relationship right now. If not, he needs to be upfront and honest so you can go your separate ways and not waste time.
Who cares about being clingy and needy when you have more important things to worry about.
If you were "clingy" or needy and he says no then it wasn't meant to be.
Never feel sorry for how you feel.don't
guys dont like that
because it makes us feel like, if we don't want anything serious, you'll leave
I would just say lets talk and then bring itup
