    Hello dear @sexyasianboi26 ,
thank you for this post :-)
Breaking up or no, listening to music is always my number one thing to do, whether I am working, driving, etc...
I am more into 80s, 90s and millenium music lover, preferably rock music.
I love most of the songs you have mentioned in your take, but I guess you have forgotten maybe about that one for a breakup:

    Hoobastank - Running Away

My nickname here is based on an old song too
Shades Apart - Stranger By The Day

If I may suggest few songs, here they are for whom is interested:
Tal Bachman - She's So High
The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony
Richard Ashcroft - A Song For The Lovers
    Roxette - Spending My Time
    Prince - Purple Rain
Gavin DeGraw - I Don't Want to Be
Gavin DeGraw - Not Over You
Gavin DeGraw - We Belong Together
    Augustana - Boston
The list is a bit long, but enjoyed sharing my opinion and thank you again for this post dear @sexyasianboi26
I hope I have not offended anybody or broken some copyright thing, not my intention, I apologize in advance :-D
    Is this still revelant?
    • No prob. You should take a look at Billboard’s top 30 breakup songs of all time. We belong together by Mariah Carey is apparently #1 right now. I think it should have been One Last cry by Brian McKnight. I didn't include one last cry in this list because I think everybody knows about it lol.

    • I do certainly check out many billboard's from time to time, but I have basically already all of them on my playlist ;-)
I have also forgot myself to mention one of my favorite songs @sexyasianboi26 , which is :
      Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag
that one kicks me way back, like 2 decades ago :-P

Came here to laugh at your crappy taste in music... Realised I like waaaaay too many of the songs on the list to do that 🙈
  • Landshrk0068
Not the break up songs that apply to most relationships. These are more realistic break up songs
    • No, just no.

    • Most break ups are angry, so these fit well. What you have listed is for saps that can't move on after a break up.

    • Young man, you are an idiot, literally. Billboard awards would probably sponsor a clinical psychologist for you. “Most break up songs are angry”. A really stupid assumption.

Top 30 breakup songs of all times. Based on tune ins, number of hits, albums sold and revenue. Tell me if any of these songs are “angry”. www.billboard.com/.../top-30-breakup-songs-heartbreak-hits

I'm sorry, but how exactly is I Don't Want To Miss A Thing a breakup/moving on song? In pretty sure that it's quite the opposite.
    • It’s an all around song. Back when Limewire and illegal downloading was a thing, this song was in the top 10 for break up songs and top 5 for love songs. Based on 700k downloads.

  • lilaqua
This isn't my usual kind of music but my favourite song ever fits into this category.

    The Chain - Fleetwood Mac
  • musical_kittycat
Wonderful. I've never been involved in a bad breakup, so I have had no need for (and don't have a current need for) these songs, but they're still going to be helpful if and when I'm involved in a breakup similar to the ones described in the songs.
  • bubble_tea
Nice list! But you really shouldn't listen to those songs while you're going through a breakup.
    • I think its a good productive way to speed up the process of moving on. The fact that you will feel sad, and cry out every tear is why people say it makes things much worse, which is not.

If you go to a buddhist monk, he will tell you “Empty your cup, then you will start healing” lol.

    • I would have added One last cry by Brian McKnight but its still a pretty popular breakup song in 2018. Not so forgotten.

    • bubble_tea

Ah yeah, that song is very nice too! I thought those monks are all about having no emotions at all.

Fool Again by Westlife (since we're talking about cheesy break-up songs haha)
  • Bananaman177
Yeah, hey, nice elevator music or whatever, but do you mind if I just crank it up a bit?

Here's another one. I'll Set You Free - The Bangles

  • CHARismatic110
Unbreak My Heart never fails to make me cry. Hate that damn song and the memories attached.
  • Logorithim
Those are truly some odes to breakups and the pain associated with them.
  • ManwithaConran
Hair Of The Dog by Nazareth... and I'll forgive anyone who only knows the Guns N Roses version. It's the male equivalent of "I Will Survive"... with balls.
  • jacquesvol
    Free again- Barbara Streysand

  • cherryphi82
How are they almost forgotten? Only someone who didn't grow up in that generation would say that.
    • Yes... I still listen to those beautiful 80s, 90s and millenium songs, whether breaking up or not :-D

  • JessForAdvice
I always find when you break up with someone every song fits your situation x
  • clampfan101
I’m surprised nothing from Evanescence is on the list.
  • NearlyNapping
Speaking of forgotten. "Without You" was written and first recorded by Badfinger. While Badfinger was well known, it was not for this song.

The most famous version (by chart success) was by Nilsson. It hit #1 in the US for four weeks. It also hit #1 in Canada, UK. Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand.
  • BillyB4
How about “In the Wee Small Hours” by Frank Sinatra? That one’s a classic that’s been forgotten
  • Avallach
I would suggest something of Slipknot or Suicide Silence
  • Jon_25
What about Angel of the Morning by Juice Newton?
    • Good Song. Anytime I hear it, I think of Deadpool

Nice tunes! I particularly liked the Aerosmith song. Although the older guys did breakup much more poetic. Witness and enjoy:

The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem - Peggy Gordon (Live)
