I've been talking to this guy for a month, we are both in college, I'm 29 he is 25. I am an exchange student from Sweden and my visa expires in January, although I am looking into all different types of ways for me to extend my stay here in the US. We instantly connected and for a month he has been constantly texting me and not ten minutes have gone by without him keeping in touch with me.
We hung out a couple of times a week and we were on several dates, he met my friends and I met his. We never had sex but it was clear he wanted to ever since we first met. Our bodies were shaking from the frustration of not having sex the last time we met. But, I found out I have genital herpes, I knew that there was a chance I had it because my ex cheated and after that, we found out he had herpes. I never had any symptoms but I did a blood test here and it came out positive so I had to tell this guy.
I asked him to be honest with me and he said he just wants us to be really good friends from now on. I think he really meant that. But I ignored his texts and calls for three days and he kept calling me and my friends to see if I was ok. I eventually said I can't be friends with him because it would hurt too much. He said he needs to think and that his mind is going crazy. He has ADD so he has problems with being put in difficult decisions. He told me he was scared and that the only thing he knows is that he can't not have me in his life but one of the big issues seemed to be that I am leaving in 3 months.
The "breakup" was a week ago and he has been texting me every other day since saying his mind is going crazy and he seems sad. But he has not made any initiative to change his decision.
Can I make him change his mind in some way? I don't want to give up on love because I found out I have herpes. I know the situation is bad, but give me your best advice to repair this, if we are friends could he realize he wants to be with me eventually? If I ignore him will he come back?
