Asking for gifts back?

As mentioned in previous questions, I expressed myself to my ex concerning his comments about my weight and him downloading pics of lingerie models onto his phone. He eventually got mad at me questioning him and left me abruptly. He asked for the engagement ring back along with everything else. He wanted to come to NY home to pick them up instead of meeting at desired location but I refused. I mailed him all of the gifts that he had ever given me plus the ring. This was hard for me to do. When he received the box he text me and told me that he only wanted the ring back. He said in the text that I was a good person but I argued too much. Then he went to say that he didn't want us to have ill will and didn't want me to be mad that the relationship was over. It was obvious at that time he didn't feel the effects of ending a 3 year relationship. How do I cope with this?

As hard as it may be, you've done the right thing by returning all the gifts, ring etc. but in doing so you have awarded yourself a clean, open new start in life.
