Why hasn't my ex gotten his stuff after a month?

On Nov 13th my boyfriend of 2 years broke up with me and I didn't see it coming. While he cried during the break up he said the reason was we were at two places in life for marriage and kids (he's 31 and I'm 35) and he didn't want to waste my time. Anyway, we have now gone a month without talking and he, nor anyone in his family have reached out about getting his stuff. My hall closet is full of his stuff; just in his clothes I have: 32 shirts, 4 hats, 3 pairs of sweats, 2 pairs of jeans, 4 hoodies, 14 pairs of underwear, a pair of shoes and 2 pairs of shorts. I also have 2 x boxes, a guitar, a pillow, 3 shaker bottles etc.

I spoke with his sister who he lives with 10 days ago and she offered to do the exchange, his stuff for mine. I said if he wants to do it have him text me, if he wants her to do it she can text me and we can figure it out - she never got back to me. This isn't normal for me in a break up. Usually an ex and I are exchanging within a few days to two weeks. I can't imagine he would want to let all this stuff go.
Any advice/ insight?

So we finally talked last night and now he wants to wait two more weeks until AFTER Christmas to do the exchange. Really? He can't take an hour out of his day when we live 10 minutes apart to do it? He said he has the week off after Christmas so he'd be more flexible but I'm still working so he would come over at the same time anyway

You have to give him an ultimatum to pick up his stuff by a certain date. If he does not comply with this ultimatum, you will dispose of them in a way you chose.

If you have his email, send him a written notice with a deadline to reply. Best would be to send him a registered letter with the detailed content of items he has to pick up, again giving him a reasonable deadline.

Past this deadline, I would dispose of his belongings, either by giving them to a charity organization or by putting them in the trash bin.

The important thing is to give him sufficient time to collect his belongings before you remove them.

If you need your things from him, and he's not responding, then the police can do an escort to allow you to collect your things while making sure you don't steal anything.

As for his stuff, that's on him. If he's not getting back to you by the time you get your things, I'd send him a certified letter (meaning he has to sign for it in order to receive it) that if he doesn't pick up his stuff within 30 days, he will have forfeited them.
