Unless they're the father/mother of your children, there is no other reason to communicate with them. There is nothing to talk about.

If a boyfriend dumps me and wants to keep me as a friend, I'll interpret that as getting demoted to the lowest position on a job; then dealing with the humiliation and insult to your own ego/self-esteem. The guy would likely feel the same way if I did that too. So I think blocked permanently if that's not someone you'll have children with is the correct way. Exes are not meant to become your friends. That's what I believe. How about you?

Blocked, deleted, and treated as if they never existed. If anyone asks, I'll deny ever having dated said guy.

There's a reason they're called an "ex." They're no longer a part of your life- unless you're unfortunate enough to have kids with them.
I tried to remain friends with an ex once... he quickly showed me that was a mistake: he told mutual friends and guys I was interested in pursuing things I told him in confidence 🤬
Immediately stopped associating with him after that.

Nope. Never again. Now all exes and crushes are blocked so I can move on with my life and not deal with any drama or potential heartbreak.

I don't like blocking people because I assume that once they've addressed they're done with me, they'll just stop talking to me entirely and leave me alone. I do agree with your update, though. It's either all or nothing. I don't keep exes as friends.

Nah, if you split up in "normal" way, no need for that hostility. Every breakup is fucked up thing and you are hurt in some way either it was short or long relationship. But like I said if that break up just happened under "normal" circumstances I don't see reason for blocking, who knows what life could bring, maybe being together again I don't know.

Unless there needs to be contact for exchanging custody of kids, people should not have any contact with an ex. It will just lead to problems in their future relationships.

I have blocked every single ex I have ever had. That’s cause out of sight out of mind. I don’t stalk anybody once I’m done and I don’t want them to stalk me either. I don’t need that energy in my life. Also - they ALWAYS come back. You need to make sure your doors locked cause it only takes one moment of vulnerability to go back to stage one. We’re healing and flourishing out here.

Nah unless if it's a betrayal break up or something, I would remain friends.
I think it shows respect to them as a person and them back to you to have not wasted the time getting to know each other just to throw it all away when you can be decent friends.
It's more of a awful move to throw someone away like they meant nothing.

To me that's only justifiable if they cheated or did something abusive etc.

There's no readin to block them. If you don't want to talk with them, then don't. Please note that not all exes are bad. My ex-wife and I had an amicable divorce and still send each other birthday wishes.

People break up because the relationship isn't what they want, not because they hate each other.

Yep. I agree with you. My ex and I have blocked each other.  Remaining friends is just gonna cause issues when youbare seeing someone new. I wouldn't date someone who's friends with an ex.

I could leave things off on a friendly note and when I see my ex remain cordial but to actually be friends, no. There really isn't a friendship taking place. You're either constantly listening to their problems or they're just leaving a door open to get back together. That said, I don't block all of my exes. I've only blocked those who deserved it.

Not always, but a few times I have NEEDED to block them for a short period. Not necessarily permanently.

Cut all ties. If they try to approach you as "friends" and you rejected their offer but they don't comprehend it's over than is a blocking the best option. Who failed as partner failed as friend in the same time.

No, if we don't work out romantically and part on good terms, we're probably still a good match for friendship. No reason to throw them away unless they're toxic and/or it brings me emotional distress to see or be near them.

I guess if you're going to block someone at least tell them the reason why you don't want to be with them anymore first. Don't just disappear and don't tell them you were just leading them on as the reason either because that's bs too.

You don’t have to be friends with them on social media nor do you have to do the harsh crime of blocking room. Most people just stop talking to people and that’s normal.
