Is there one woman in every man’s life that they regret losing?

When my ex and I were breaking up, he told me, I was his first love and his biggest love and that he thought he would regret it someday.

I remember he said his dad told him there’s a woman in every man’s life that they’ll always regret losing and he told me he thought I was that woman.

But then why would he lose me?

He also said : “I know I’ll regret it, not only because how much I loved you, but also because how much you loved me, I know I’ll never be loved that way again and I am sure, I’ll think of your face before I die. But now, I want to live and make mistakes.”

Why would he lose me then if he thought that was a mistake? Or did he just say those to make me feel good?
