Yes, you can still love someone if you've cheated on them. But you clearly don't respect them or the relationship very much. In some cases it can be worked through, but I've rarely seen true forgiveness. The cheating person usually has to go through a lot of hell for a very long time. No privacy. Emails/phones/Facebooks open to checking at all time. No going out with friends alone. And giving constant reassurance about your devotion. In a sense, you've proven to be an untrustworthy person, and thus will be treated like someone who can't be trusted for a very long time. Potentially forever.
This is why most people avoid cheating. Because it's so stupid, hardly ever worth it, and the damage is permanent.
I think it depends on the person. I'm not condoning cheating, but there are some situations that it could be a one-time indiscretion where the cheater absolutely regrets what they've done and the couple is able to move past it. Other times it's a recurring thing where there either isn't respect involved on the cheater's part, or it's a learned behavior that requires therapy to get over. Again, not saying it's right, but there are a plethora of reasons why people cheat.
I think cheating can definitely be a one time mistake. I cheated and it was only once, but now I'm with that individual I cheated with and he doesn't trust me because of it. I loved the person I was with but wasn't in love with him. I always wanted to be with my current boyfriend but because of other situations at the time, it was impossible. My advice, don't cheat, it's not worth it, a lot of people get hurt in the process.
Rarely a one time mistake, but sometimes. Some people may forgive it once, but anybody who forgives it more than once means its a habit for them. Most people will however, consider being forgiven as its okay to cheat. And some will realize they made a huge mistake and won't ever do it again. But most likely, most people will be the first one.

There are situation in which cheating may occur, it can happen, but if it's really a one time mistake you need to think about why you did it and was it a life-threatening situation...personally I think that one a cheater always a cheater. If you're not happy in your relationship, you instead of cheating, you should break up and let the other person know that you don't have the same feelings that you may have before.
well, if you have cheated on them, apparently you don't really love the person as much as you think you do. take this time and re-examine your relationship with them. make sure you are open to your partner and talk things out. if they forgive you, then you can work through it, but if they don't, I'd say its a dead end. make sure you know how you feel about them before going and talking to them.
I don't think it is a onetime mistake. I'm happy in my relationship and I never felt the need to cheat. Ever. I don't get why people do it but there has to be something wrong with the relationship if one partner cheats
