Why do people complain that online dating doesn't work when its not supposed to work for everybody?

So today I just deleted the apps I tried and in doing so I was thinking about a conversation I had with two coworkers weeks ago.
So my coworkers were saying how dating apps don't work. One said it didn't work because she met her boyfriend in class dms the other said she was on the app for like 5 minutes an realized that its trash. I guess I don't understand why people think that if you use dating apps it would work for everybody? Like yeah a lot of things about dating apps suck like not getting matching creepy PMS ghosting etc. But everybody isn't meant to meet on a dating app and just because you did or did not meet someone on a dating app doesn't mean it'll be the same for everybody. It's like somebody saying they met their SO in a coffee shop and their single friend is upset because they haven't met the one in a coffee shop. Can we all just agree that dating in general just sucks?

Dating apps only work for a small slice of the population: really good-looking guys who just want sex and are good-looking enough to attract girls interested in casual sex, and attractive girls willing to date/be in a relationship with less-attractive guys.

For everyone else, they're largely a waste of time and a distraction from the real goal. It's like filling up a bucket of water with your backyard garden hose and then going shark-fishing in the bucket: not matter what gear, bait, or skill you have or use, you won't be catching any sharks, because there aren't any in your bucket to catch in the first place.

Meet people in the real world and stop trying to live your life online.

The people I know who met their sig other on dating sites were NOT good-looking at all; quite the opposite, they were noticeably below average. But they WEREN'T fanatically picky about the looks who they looking for - note that this means that BOTH parties were not in the categories you mention, so this holds for both genders.

VGL people don't need dating sites to meet people, unless they are in rural Wyoming or something.

I think people have a tendency to be self centered and egotistical. It's normal and makes sense. But that also leads people to think "if it doesn't work for me, it must not work". I notice it on reviews a lot. Someone will trash a product because it didn't work. It worked for others just not for them but that won't stop them from saying it doesn't work generally.

Online dating only works for a tiny percentage of people. People go into it thinking that they only have to put up a bio and bingo they will find a date. Of course the reality is most people have no success at all with dating sites. I knew a guy that worked for OK Cupid, and he even said the site only cares about making money.

Yeah, I recently made the mistake of joining OK Cupid (paid) and it really is a very deceptive and unhelpful site. I would definitely recommend people avoid it.

I agree “dating in general just sucks”. Everyone have different expectations and experiences. What may work for some, may not work for others.

Dating sites don’t work for many reasons, I think some people believe it’s works easily when it rarely does. People on Tinder etc usually looking for hookups or an ego boost not a relationship. I’ve used them before it try them out but never took it seriously and had little success - it’s a contest no guy can really ever win.

Its because the odds are slim. You could win the lottery but most people dont so we dont go around saying the lottery is a good plan to have😳 dating apps work but not enough for majority of people to say they are successful

Online dating works. You have to put good pics up and know how to talk to women. It takes time. Any date I got took few weeks to make happen, not five mins.

Not true. You just can't expect to GET a ridiculously good-looking mate on those sites unless you also fall in that category. The people I know who found a mate online were less than average in looks, but were willing to find someone at their level.

The people I know who met their mate on dating sites were not attractive at all. I think the problem is a lot of 3's are looking for 9's and 10's, and that tends to result in a very low batting average.
