Cody and I have had a casual dating history for the last year. He has an ex that lives in another country that they only ended things due to him moving from that country that she lives in. I met him and we really clicked. However, he has always held back because he didn’t want to close the door on his ex. He openly admitted that to me in October of last year.
Recently he has reached out more to me and has been hitting me with hard questions about what do you want for qualities in your husband, how many kids etc. 3 weeks ago he told me he loved me when he was drinking and that he could 110% see himself dating me. This last weekend when we were drinking again he asked what I would think of us dating. I told him I wanted to give it a try.
He hasn’t been great with communication this week so I text him asking if I could ask him a somewhat serious question. He said if course. So I asked if he means any of the things he says around me when he is drinking. He said he made a joke about us dating when he was wasted and that I should just ignore that talk for now from him with a laughing face. I responded saying that I wish his drunken words were true but I can’t compete with his. He responded saying not with that attitude with some laughing faces.
I've never tried to end it with him before like this but I’m so tired of being second best. He had told guy friends that he is torn between me and her.
did my text ruin my chances? Part of me thinks I just need to walk away with my dignity.
