No. I dont think men who refuse to date fat women are any of that. The heart of romance and relationships is sexual attraction. Sexual attraction the biological essence of bonding with a partner. Only women take the position that sexual attraction is less important. However, studies show the majority women see sexual attraction as very important.
For a man, dating a pretty girl is about status. A lot of men will have sex with fat women but never date them. They are embarrassed to be seen in public with girls who are overweight.
I have dated a girl who was overweight and later obese. I loved her. But deep down inside in public people would look at us and I was ashamed. She was ashamed too. Girls would treat her kind of bitchy because I was a muscular skinny guy and they felt that she didn't deserve to be with me. I think she felt embarrassed too. In her insecurities she started lashing out in the home about little things.

I have observed a common trend in people to exempt themselves from being targets of actions they engage in. This is very common in the subject of dating.
For example; I have seen several questions and polls here in which a majority of people view the refusal to date a person based on that person's height or race (features that can't be changed) as "preference" (and thus, not shallow). My position is that it is hypocrisy to have those "preferences" and then demand that others do not have their own, especially if we factor that something like weight can be changed while height or skin colour cannot.
On a side note, "fat" is very ambiguous, as different people seem to have a minimum threshold for what they consider "fat". In the past, I have been attracted to girls that where considered fat by others, but I didn't think that they were.

If I am going to approach someone at a bar to flirt with, she isn't going to be the date one. She's going to be thinner. I don't know the personality of either at that point. We can't know your personality until later. It's physically impossible. My girlfriend has a reasonably attractive friend. She's extremely high maintenance though. Before actually knowing her though all I knew was that she was above average in looks. That's the way it always will be, even ffg ie girls. They can't know a guy's personality when they just see him.

Both men and women judge a potential partner based on appearance. That can involve many things, not just body type. Attractive facial features, quality of smile, indications of status or wealth, height, on and on. Some of this is "hard-wired" as people choose in part on if they perceive a partner as healthy. Is it "fair" in the sense that a man should give a woman he considers less attractive the same degree of attention that he gives to a woman he is immediately attracted to? No. But he also gets the same treatment from other woman. And in the end it is an individual's right to choose that is most fair.

Here are some things to think about.
- Everyone has a different opinion of what's fat or not.
- People are naturally attracted to different things and no one can control that. Hence why fetishes/kinks are a thing.
- Being fat can correlate with your personality, but not always. What I mean is, is that it is a choice to be that way, but for some that isn't the case. So if it is a choice someone can see it as a flaw in your personality.

I agree with this statement. While attraction is an important factor, and men constantly applaud themselves for not "dating for status", thinness is in itself "dating for status." Most men will deny a first date with a woman because of her weight. Men will ascribe personality characteristics to an overweight woman before speaking to her. Men will treat overweight women as "maybe better than nothing, maybe not." Its unfortunate, how one can so easily distinguish between which women are "worthy" of something "real" and those who aren't. For some, it's more because of health, it's important to them and it is hard to be with someone that doesn't share that importance with you. I don't feel that way generally, but I do understand how they feel. I get it. One of my ex's, I liked her a lot, but she was overweight, which I accepted and it didn't change that, but what it did affect was daily lifestyles. When we'd get together for example and go out and do things, she'd get tired very easily and quickly and we'd have to stop, meanwhile I was fine and just starting to enjoy what we were doing. Also as feelings developed, I started to get very concerned about her health due to her weight and lifestyle.

I only seek healthy women. If I'm attracted to a non-healthy woman, I'd see about getting her healthy first. From my beliefs her body is irrelevant, but I am a man and that plays into a healthy lasting relationship. I can accept fatness, but I would never seek it. Often obesity is a symptom of an underlying condition, depression, anxiety, pride, selfishness, hopelessness, etc. These aren't desirable qualities, but if she's working on them I would find her more desirable. I wouldn't want to date someone who is overweight, because it means they do not take care of what they eat and how they exercise.
I would say more than 90 % of people are shallow and superficial when it come to their partner looks so yes they're superficial but they aren't different from the majority of the population, it's ok to be shallow don't seen what's bad. Everyone is free to do what they want.
I see it the same as the women that require men be at least six feet tall. It doesn't bother me, as I'm 6'1" tall, but it really is the same thing. And, in reality, those women that require men be at least six feet tall are worse than guys that don't date fat girls. Many (not all) day women can do something about their weight; there's nothing a short guy can do about his height.
It's the same with girls who won't date shorter guys. It's just a preference. It works both ways, and just like that women could be called "shallow" for having preferences.

Dating someone for money isn't the same thing as dating someone for how they look. It's a preference to find people attractive for how they look. Are there shallow people that date people solely for how they look? Sure, but that doesn't mean that applies to everyone.
Is it shallow to look for a physically and mentally healthy partner? No. Superficial yes. But it's not shallow, cause being fat means you're mentally or physically not healthy. That's a tough pill to swallow but it's in your power to change that, if you are fat.
