Should I ask why she has been distant?

Anonymous
I’ve been talking to this girl for about 2 months, things were going great and we FaceTimed twice and stayed up very late both times. Then she suddenly started getting very distant, we still talk every day but it was a very noticeable difference in texting behavior. She has repeatedly apologized for not texting as much lately, saying that she is busy or some reason, and I’ve always just said it’s fine. I’ve asked her to FaceTime a couple times over the last couple weeks and she kept pushing it back or forgetting.

She is still texting me and apologizing but I am
Rapidly losing interest, and I don’t understand what is going on. Because this seems like a ghosting tactic, but she keeps texting me and trying to Maintain the conversation. I have been backing off quite a bit, but should I ask her why she’s been so distant? And if I do, how should
I phrase it? Normally I would just assume they lost interest and move on, but she keeps texting me...

She has told me she wants to move slow because she just got out of a relationship, which is completely fine with me, with the pandemic, I would rather move slow, but I always take dramatic changes in texting behavior as a bad sign. Especially since we haven’t FaceTimed in weeks...

And with her constantly apologizing for the bad texting, she obviously is nervous about it, but not nervous enough to change her texting... I just don’t know what to do
Should I ask why she has been distant?
