It's clearly the case.
Having a girlfriend puts you low-key in an advantageous position for what regards a non-scripted, non-written competition that men are constantly in.
Also doesn't help that part of your attention goes now to someone who is not your buddies and they notice that.
Girls whom you might have been interested might suddenly see their interest piqued as you've been deemed worthy of being a long lasting partner by another and come back in arms.
Some of you might not notice it, but personal interaction change rather wildly when you find a partner.

Well, with family and friends it is more obvious, as they know you're not in a relationship they know you have more free time for them... and if you have a girlfriend then they know there will be less time and "attention" from you.

Yes if you are single I do get treated differently as if I’m a weirdo because they tell me why haven’t you gotten a girlfriend yet what is wrong? Vs when you are in a relationship you get treated very maturely and people will see you as a man.
