Everyone should learn and know how to handle themselves.
Women are more likely to date/stay with people who have a disability/illness than men are. So.

Unlikely. I generally prefer to avoid confrontation but if it were to come up, I’d prefer someone that can at least help me try to protect us.

As usual you don't know what you're talking about. Most types of behaviour are not "hard-wired", they're acquired due to the influences of one's environment and upbringing. This notion that women belong to men and that the men need to protect them, is one of those. There is nothing deterministic about our behaviour, and we can all rise above our conditioning. We can learn, progress, and abandon old ways. We're not animals that have to follow their instinctual impulses, we are sentient, conscious beings who have the capacity to learn from, and understand, our environment.

Most women want a man who can defend them if need be (there are no feminists in a house fire as Bill Burr put it). Some dudes just can't do that.

Yeah I see it like I do with my friend. She is much more powerful than I am, but I don’t go running around hoping she will defend me if I get into a bad situation. She would help me I know, but I would also do my part. I don’t think she is an on call bodyguard and I doubt she would like me very much if that was a condition of our friendship. Support - that is what friends and partners are for.
In high school maybe it would matter but after that I think girls look for other attributes. Most of which probably have to do with career or money.
Evereyone says they can defend their self and partner. Let's be honest; the ones who really do, are into martial arts (a civilian, police and military, trained for battle).
