Met the perfect girl 6 months ago. Incredibly beautiful and she was so sweet and intelligent and just so wifey. I could talk to her about anything.

I left her a month ago. I met her family randomly and her mum was nice but her father refused to shake my hand or look at me properly. Like I was dirt

I am Middle Eastern by origin.

Her family could be poor or whatever. But my values don’t allow me to be involved with such a racist background. It was a hard decision.

No regrets. I’m just curious what you think 🤔

It’s a pretty big step to actually leave someone. For you to have already taken this step, clearly her father’s behaviour was a red flag enough to break the two of you up. Therefore, by your own accord, you have done the right thing for you. Otherwise the question would have been; “Should I break up with my girlfriend because of her farther.” But instead you are asking having already done so, six months ago.

Ironically, I was talking online to a Middle Eastern man who’s mother did not want to meet me, ever.

If you really liked her, why leave because of her father? You are dating her, not him. What he did is so wrong, and I know it must have been awkward and made you feel awful, but if she was so nice and wifey material, why leave because of it?

I think it's for the best that she gets someone else bro, because you have no spine at all. If you were gonna be in his daughter's life, he would've eventually grown enough to accept you. You're dating the woman, not her family. Your values are not the reason for you leaving.

If I found a great girl but her father was racist towards me I just wouldn't bother to ever see the father again. If she insisted on keeping her father as part of our life together then it would be a major problem. I don't think someone's background matters as long as they're willing to abandon it/leave it behind.

And secondly, there's no such thing as the "perfect girl". Everyone has flaws. You just haven't known her long enough to find out what those flaws are.
Live with her for a year and lets see if that'll change your mind about her.

I know. It’s just someone I can’t be involved with. Inside I felt quite hurt and I didn’t blame her. But I feel I can’t be associated with her family. Makes me feel sick and angry

Yes. People deserve the truth and I just said it’s not something I’m not able to be involved with. I also said how it’s not her fault one bit and that I’m sure her dad is a great man otherwise
