Asked a girl out over text, she said yes. 2 days later after not hearing from her, she cancelled, but then asked if she could hit me up?

I met a girl at a restaurant (the waitress) and left my number on the receipt. She texted me, and we had been texting for about a week before I asked her to a nice coffee shop. She said yes, but it seemed tentative, because she mentioned she might need to take care of her nephews. I setup the time for 6:00pm (there's a jazz band that plays at that time, I was going to surprise her), but she said it might be too late for coffee, so I moved the time to 4pm. She didn't respond for 2 days so I sent a funny picture to get her attention, and she responded without acknowledging any texts and cancelling the date. She said things have been super busy, and she has a ton going on. I said, "I hope things get better for you", and she responded with, "Can I hit you up when things get better? So we can go to the coffee place? :)". I responded with, "Absolutely". I wanted some feedback from you all because I hear a lot about how girls will say things like this if they want to be nice about rejection. Should I move on? Is it something I might have said? This was my first time asking a girl out in years since being sober, so I'm a bit out of touch lol. Any constructive criticism is welcome.

Move on. I tried going out with a waitress and a bartender (not at the same time). After the bar tender I learned my lesson. Don’t try to date girls in that line of work. They are ALWAYS “too busy”. Almost ALL of them take forever to respond. Go find another girl that isn’t a waitress or bartender. It’s not worth the stress and certainly isn’t worth the time if it could be better spent hanging with a girl that makes time for you and responds quickly. You need to be payed back the effort you put in. That doesn’t seem to happen very often with these girls.

Yeah, over the course of our back and forth, she would always take 1-2 business days to respond. Every time she responded, it included an "I'm so sorry, I'm usually much better at responding". I think you're right, I'll move on and date different types of women

@nikeguy1994 I like when you said 1-2 business days! That was fricking hilarious and accurate. And I like to think of "I'm so sorry, I'm usually better at responding" as a "red-checkered flag". Which has two meanings. The "red" part refering to her saying that in the first place. The "checkered" part meaning, if she hasn't worked on getting back to you sooner already, this is how it will always be. (#hopeless) In which case, there won't be a relationship and you'll be stuck in this loop until this gets terminated. Hence the checkered symbolism. Aye man. Sorry you had to go through this. But us guys with similar experiences will always be around to share your pain. 😁🤙🏻
