Should I take this as a yes?

So I sent my ex a message asking if I can get another chance. At the end of the message, I asked if she could “tell me a simple no if you don’t want to be with me and I’ll leave you alone” pretty much asking her if she wanted to be with me or not and I didn’t get a response. Do I take this as a no? Or is she still contemplating the answer?

Have you already tried getting back together? What about when you broke up, were you trying to hang on, or maybe she was?

We haven’t tried getting back together. She told me that we need distance from each other to heal. I also know that she still keeps our pictures because we have an album of photos together on our phones that she is still subscribed to. I don’t know if she is still trying to hang on but I definitely am. (Also she was the one who broke up with me)

Got it, I was just wondering what led to this before forming a true opinion. My thoughts probably aren’t what you want to hear since you still want to hang on, but honestly I think she’s wanting her space right now. Breakups are already so hurtful, especially as the initiator and also when when your ex won’t let go. Her silence is because she doesn’t want to hurt you or herself more than you both are already going through. She doesn’t want to say no and go through any fallout from that, if you were wanting to know why not and etc. It’s not to say that she will never come back, but just not right now and even if you don’t want to accept it, at least respect her enough to give her the space to choose on her own if she wants to come back.

So should I wait for a response maybe down the road? Or should I hit her up when I come back home from deployment in 6 weeks?

I would definitely say to let her contact you. Also knowing you’re deployed, maybe that’s an issue for her too. The distance can be crucial, even though you’d get housing as well, moving may be a factor for her and just that army wife lifestyle isn’t for everyone.
